Pananatilihin pa rin ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang COVID-19 Alert Level System sa bansa sa ngayon, batay sa statement na inilabas ng Malacañang ngayong Martes.


Gayunman, pinag-iisipan ni Pangulong Marcos ang reclassification ng mga restriksyon na magiging mas compatible na sa kasalukuyan na milder strains ng COVID-19.


Ayon sa Pangulo, ang alert level ay maaaring i-adjust o i-improve kung mas maraming mamamayan ang tatanggap ng COVID-19 vaccine booster shots.


“To avoid confusion, we will retain the alert level system for now. We are however thinking, we are studying very closely, and we’ll come to a decision very soon as to decoupling the restrictions from the alert levels,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos nang ma-meet niya si Department of Health (DOH) Officer-In-Charge Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.


Nitong Lunes, nakipagpulong ang Chief Executive sa mga DOH officials upang talakayin ang COVID-19 at ang tugon ng gobyerno sa viral disease.


Ayon kay Vergeire, maaaring makabuo ang DOH ng bagong classifications sa ikalawang linggo ng Agosto.


“Mid-August is a suitable time to loosen up classifications as this would give the medical community time to make COVID-19 cases more manageable, at the same time allaying their fears,” ani pa Vergeire.
