Amerikanong nahatulan sa sexual abuse, banned sa 'Pinas

Isang Amerikano na na-convict sa kanyang bansa ng child pornography, sexual abuse, at pag-aabuso sa isang bata na wala pang 15 taon ang edad ay hindi pinahintulutan na pumasok sa Pilipinas, ayon sa Bureau of Immigration (BI) ngayong Linggo.

Kinilala siya ng BI bilang si Thomas Henry Vander Waal, 39 anyos, na dumating sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) mula sa Taiwan noong ika-2 ng Nobyembre.

“According to the International Criminal Police Organization's (Interpol) National Central Bureau in Manila, Vander Waal, who hails from Rock Valley, Sioux County, Iowa, has convictions related to sex offenses against minors in the US,” sabi ng BI sa isang pahayag.

“Our immigration law expressly forbids entry of aliens who have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude because they are undesirable aliens,” ayon kay BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco na nag-utos na isama si Vander Waal sa blacklist of unwanted aliens.

“The inclusion in the blacklist effectively bans him from re-entering the Philippines so that he won’t pose a threat and risk to our women and children,” sabi ni Tansingco.
