9 lugar, positibo sa toxic red tide – BFAR

Siyam na lugar sa bansa ang naiulat na positibo sa toxic red tide, ayon sa Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

Ang mga lugar na positibo sa red tide ay coastal waters ng Milagros sa Masbate; Sapian Bay (Ivisan at Sapian) sa Capiz; coastal waters ng Roxas City sa Capiz; coastal waters ng Panay sa Capiz; coastal waters ng President Roxas sa Capiz; coastal waters ng Pilar sa Capiz; coastal waters ng Dauis at Tagbilaran City sa Bohol; Dumanquillas Bay sa Zamboanga del Sur; at Lianga Bay sa Surigao del Sur.

Ayon sa BFAR, ang mga shellfish mula sa mga nasabing lugar ay natagpuang positibo sa paralytic shellfish poison (PSP) o toxic red tide na lagpas sa itinakdang regulatory limit.

“All types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from the areas shown above are NOT SAFE for human consumption,” pahayag ng BFAR.

“[However,] fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” dagdag ng BFAR.
