KAMAKAILAN lang ay pinarangalan ni Pres. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. at ng Department of Tourism ang 15 local government unit na nagwagi sa Tourism Champions Challenge.
Ang TCC ay isang tourism infrastructure program na nilalayong tulungan ang mga LGU sa pagdisenyo, pag-develop, at pag-manage ng tourism projects sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng pondo para sa natatanging project proposals.

Tig-limang LGU mula Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao ang nanalo, na niranggo mula first to fifth place.
Nakatakdang tumanggap ang first place winners ng P20 million; 2nd place-P15 million; 3rd place-P10 million; 4th place-P8 million; at 5th place-P7 million.
Inanunsyo naman ni Pres. Marcos na inaprubahan ng Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority ang dagdag na P5 million na pondo para sa mga nanalo.

Ayon sa DOT, tumanggap ang regional offices nito ng 98 project proposals mula 90 LGU. Bawat isa raw sa mga panukala ay nilalayong pagandahin at paunlarin ang mga local tourism destinations.
Ang mga salik sa pagpili ng mga nagwaging proyekto ay resiliency, inclusivity, and sustainable development (20 percent); relevance to the “Challenge” theme (10 percent); project objective and impact to tourism (20 percent); economic and financial viability (20 percent); sustainability mechanism (15 percent); and, presentation quality (15 percent).

Sa Luzon: Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya para sa Ambaguio Skyport-The 1st Local Paragliding “Airport Terminal” in the Philippines (1st place); Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro para sa Pinagpalang Lagusan sa Bakawan: A Mangrove Forest Park Development (2nd place); Bolinao, Pangasinan, Legacy of the Sea Project: A Silaki Island Community-Based Tourism Project (3rd place); San Jose, Romblon, Eco-Tourism Park Socorro (4th place); at Oriental Mindoro para sa Naujan Lake Wetlands Center (5th place).
Sa Visayas: Tubigon, Bohol para sa Enchanted Ilijan Plug of Tubigon (1st); Badian, Cebu para sa Badian Toong Spring Nature Park (2nd); Silago, Southern Leyte para sa Silago Ridge to Reef Eco-Experience Project: Promoting Sustainability through Eco-Heritage Tourism (3rd place); Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Gawahon, A Birder’s Paradise: Haven for Sustainable and Inclusive Eco-Tourism (4th place); at Panay, Capiz, Panay: A Coastal Resource Experience (5th place).
Sa Mindanao: Isabela City, Basilan para sa Lampinigan SANDS: The Lampinigan Jetty Port and Leisure Development Project (1st place); Davao City, Davao del Sur para sa Panunod: A Way of Life, Inherited Preservation of the Unwavering Legacy of Cultural and Sustainable Tourism of the Davao City (2nd place); Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte para sa Mangrove Boardwalk and Gallery (3rd place); Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Truly Tagum: Advancing the Benefits of an Enriched Heritage-Tourism Circuit (4th place); at San Agustin, Surigao del Sur, Tourist Catwalk at Gata to Bretania Mangrove Areas (5th place).

Binabati natin ang lahat ng nagtagumpay. Umaasa rin tayo na sa tulong ng TCC ay lalo pang iigting ang pagbibigay halaga sa ating likas na yaman.
Nawa’y mas marami pang LGU ang pagtuunan ng pansin ang sustainable tourism at lumikha ng mga programang binabalanse ang interes ng pag-unlad at ng kalikasan.
