Itinalaga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang musician at businessman na si Ramon “RJ” Jacinto bilang adviser ng telecommunications, ayon sa Malacañang.
Sa isang pahayag ngayong Miyerkules, sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque na pinirmahan na ni Pangulong Duterte ang appointment ni Jacinto noong November 25.
“PA Jacinto has served the Duterte administration in various capacities. He was the former Presidential Adviser on Economic Affairs and Information Technology and later became Undersecretary of the Department of information and Communications Technology,” sabi ni Roque.
“We are therefore confident that PA Jacinto would ably and effectively discharge his duties in this new assignment,” dagdag ng kalihim.
Nagpalabas ng anunsiyo si Roque isang araw matapos na himukin ng Palasyo ang mga telecommunications companies na Smart at Globe na magbigay ng updates para sa konstruksiyon ng bagong cell sites na kinakailangan para matiyak ang pagpapalawak ng coverage nito.
Matatandaang noong July ay binalaan ni Pangulong Duterte ang dalawang kumpanya na kanyang ipasasara sakaling mabigo ang mga ito na mapaganda ang kanilang serbisyo sa Disyembre.
