Naglabas ng direktiba ang Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) sa Maynilad at Manila Water na isuspinde muna ang mga disconnection activities matapos na isailalim ng gobyerno ang National Capital Region (NCR) sa enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) mula Agosto 6 hanggang 20.
Sa isang pahayag ngayong Miyerkules, inatasan ng MWSS-RO ang mga water concessionaires na suspendihin nila ang nakatakdang pagputol sa serbisyo ng tubig sa mga residente sa NCR sa panahon ng ECQ. Anila, “To ensure water supply availability within their service areas.”
Isasailalim ang NCR sa ECQ sa loob ng dalawang linggo dahil sa panganib na maaaring maidulot ng Delta variant ng COVID-19. “Maynilad will suspend the disconnection of the water service of accounts with bills that fall due within the ECQ period. This is in compliance with the directive of our regulators, and also in line with our effort to ease the financial burden on our customers whose livelihood may be constrained by the ECQ restrictions,” pahayag ng pamunuan ng Maynilad.
Ayon naman sa Manila Water, “As directed by the MWSS-RO, we will abide with the directive and suspend disconnection activities during the ECQ from August 6 to 20.” Samantala, umapela ang MWSS-RO sa local government units (LGUs) sa Metro Manila, Cavite, at Rizal na payagan ang mga meter readers ng Maynilad at Manila Water na ipagpatuloy ang on-site water reading at billing operations kahit nasa ilalim na ng ECQ.
“This will enable the concessionaires to bill their customers based on the actual water consumption, and help minimize billing complaints that may abound if the customers were to be billed on average consumption,” paliwanag ng MWSS-RO. Tiniyak naman ng ahensiya na ipapatupad ng Maynilad at Manila Water sa kanilang meter readers at iba pang personnel ang mga health at safety protocols habang nagsasagawa ng “read-and-bill.” “The agency will continue to protect the welfare of the public, especially during this difficult time of the pandemic,” sabi pa ng MWSS-RO.
Kasalukuyang nagseserbisyo ang Maynilad sa mga customers na nasa west zone gaya ng mga lungsod ng Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon, Valenzuela. Kabilang din ang mga lugar sa Cavite tulad ng mga siyudad ng Bacoor, Cavite, at Imus at mga bayan ng Kawit, Noveleta, at Rosario.
Ang Manila Water ay nagseserbisyo naman sa east zone kabilang ang Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, at bahagi ng Quezon City at Manila, at mga bayan ng Angono, Baras, Binangonan, Cainta, Cardona, Jalajala, Morong, Pililia, Rodriguez, Tanay, Taytay, Teresa, San Mateo, at Antipolo sa lalawigan ng Rizal.
