Pambobomba ng Abu Sayyaf sa Sulu, napurnada

Nabigo ang tangkang pag-atake ng Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) matapos na madiskubre ng tropa ng gobyerno ang isang improvised explosive device (IED) na itinanim sa Indanan, Sulu kahapon, ayon sa militar.

Ayon sa Joint Task Force Sulu, isang concerned citizen ang nag-report sa kanilang tanggapan tungkol sa IED na kanyang natagpuan. Agad na rumesponde ang mga sundalo sa nasabing lugar kung saan nai-dispose rin ito nu'ng hapon ng Biyernes.

"The IED sealed with coconut leaves which was composed of a mortar cartridge, 90RR projectile heat, five (5) liters of Ammonium-Nitrate/Fuel-oil (ANFO), battery and an improvised blasting cap was emplaced near a barangay road which could have hurt innocent civilians within 20-meter radius," pahayag ng militar.

Pinaniniwalaang ang IED ay ginawa ng Abu Sayyaf bomb expert na si Mundi Sawadjaan na siya ring utak sa pagsabog sa Jolo Cathedral noong 2019, ayon sa JTF Sulu.

"The Abu Sayyaf Group is obviously frustrated by the series of their losses that they resort to the most hideous form of violent extremism — bombing. They want to instill fear, but the bravery and courage of our troops is unsurpassable," sabi ni 11th Infantry Division at JTF Sulu Commander Maj. Gen. William Gonzales.

Patuloy din ang paghahanap ng military sa 10 miyembro ng Abu Sayyaf kabilang ang sub-leader nilang si Ellam Nasirin na kaanib ni Sawadjaan.

Samantala, nagkaroon ng sagupaan sa pagitan ng Phil. Army at grupo ni Nasirin noong Huwebes, subali’t matapos ang 30-minutong bakbakan, umatras ang tropa ng mga rebelde sa laban dahil marami sa kanila ang sugatan at duguan.

"We are continuously tracking the ASG, with the consolidated efforts of all units and the full support from the civilian populace who provide timely and accurate information of ASG's whereabouts and activities,” sabi ni 100th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army Commander Col. Antonio Bautista.
