Napakaganda ng ginawang pagpapalaki ng veteran actress na si Coney Reyes at ng komedyanteng si Vic Sotto sa anak nilang si Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto.

Marami ang humanga at napabilib sa talumpati ni Mayor Vico na ginanap sa recognition rites ng University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman College of Engineering Class of 2025 noong Martes, July 8, 2025.

Sa talumpati ng anak ni Bossing Vic ay hinimok nito ang mga nagsipagtapos na pag-isipan ang tunay na kahulugan ng tagumpay, na hinahamon silang bumangon sa katiwalian at hindi pagkakapantay-pantay.

Ito ang ilang bahagi ng talumpati ng butihing mayor ng Pasig…

“Ang pangarap ba natin sa buhay ay magkaroon ng mataas na posisyon, maging CEO ng ganitong kumpanya, maging negosyante na milyonaryo o bilyonaryo? Ang pangarap ba natin ay sumikat, magkaroon ng 1 million followers sa TikTok? Ang pangarap ba natin ay magkaroon ng mataas na posisyon at maging makapangyarihan?

“In my line of work, ang dami kong nakikita. Sabi nga kanina, napakadaling makain ng sistema. People start off with good intentions, but the saddest thing that I’ve seen as a person in government or working with government are actually people who have the right intentions when they start, but along the way, they get lost, nakakain ng pangarap, ng ambisyon. 

“And again, there's nothing wrong with ambition per se, there's nothing wrong with big lofty dreams. Pero ang tanong, bakit ba ‘yun ang pangarap natin? Bakit gustong magkaposisyon? 

“I ask myself everyday, bakit ko ba gustong maging mayor? Bakit mo ginustong maging mayor? Bakit mo gustong maging engineer? Bakit ko ginustong dito ako mag-a-apply ng trabaho? May trabaho ka na, bakit gustong ma-promote? Ano ba’ng meron? Sana, hindi lamang 'yung posisyon, 'yung pera, 'yung kasikatan.

“Successful ka nga, magulo naman ‘yung pamilya mo. Mayaman ka nga, galing naman sa nakaw ‘yung kayamanan mo. Makapangyarihan ka nga, may posisyon ka, pero ang dami mong tinapakan at inagrabyado para makarating kung nasaan ka.

“I hope that we don’t think that it is worth it. I hope we take time as early as now to stop and think, bakit? Ano ba’ng gusto kong makamit sa aking buhay?

“Hindi sapat na magaling ka, dapat ay mabuting tao ka.

“Ang tunay na tagumpay, hindi lang 'yung mataas ang suweldo o kilala ka. Kung yumaman ka pero may tinapakan kang iba o galing sa nakaw ang yaman, tagumpay ba talaga ‘yun?”

Bawat salitang sinabi ni Mayor Vico Sotto ay mapapabilib ka talaga, Ateng Janiz!

NAKAKALUNGKOT man pero nakatakda nang gibain ang iconic transmitter tower, ang old ABS-CBN building, ang Dolphy Theater, at ang chapel sa loob ng ABS-CBN compound dahil nabili na ng Ayala Land, Inc. ang nasabing property.

Sa social media post ng dating chief executive officer (CEO) ng ABS-CBN at aktres na si Charo Santos, nagbahagi siya ng video clip na nagpapakita ng loob ng ABS-CBN. 

Ang caption ng post niya: “Dito nabuo ang pangarap. Dito nagsimula ang kuwento. At sa bawat sulok, may alaala.

“ABS-CBN wasn’t just a workplace, it was our home. Every hallway holds a memory. Every room tells a story. And in every corner, my heart remembers.”

Sa Facebook (FB) post naman ng aktor na si John Arcilla ay nagbahagi rin siya ng saloobin tungkol sa nalalapit na paggiba sa iconic transmitter tower, ang old ABS-CBN building.

Saad ni John, “ABS-CBN COMPOUND TURNED OVER TO THE NEXT PROPRIETOR.

“As ABS-CBN molded our love for country and commitment to serve the Filipino people through our arts and talents, the space within its four walls which used to be our playground, strength and refuge are about to be turned over to the next proprietors.
