Krog dumikit sa podium ng Asian Track C'ships

Ipinagpatuloy pa rin ng Chinese cyclist ang pagdomina sa Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) Track and Para Track Championships pero ang batang si Maritanya Krog ang paborito sa Tagaytay CT Velodrome.

Si Krog na 17-anyos na neophyte sa velodrome ang may karisma sa national team dahil sa kanya nakikita ang kinabukasan ng Philippine track cycling bagamat  4th place sa  women junior elimination race, gabuhok na lamang para sa podium. 

“It’s a great honor and achievement for me to be in the top four, not only because it’s my first time, but also because we had very little preparation for the championships,” saad ni Krog, isang matagumpay na junior road rider na humakot ng mga gintong medalya sa  PhilCycling Nationals at Batang Pinoy program.

“I’m very thankful to everyone who supports me–especially my mother, my siblings and my coaches,” dagdag ni Krog, anak ng dating road at track national rider at ngayon ay national team coach Marita Lucas.  "I’m also grateful to PhilCycling, PSC and the POC.”

Dumikit siya sa terserang si Alegya Keiko Hendranaya ng Indonesia sa women junior elimination race na dinomina ni Ding Aonan ng China at silver si South Korea’s Lee Yun Ji. 

Iyon na ang pinakamalapit na podium finish sa halos 30 national track at para track athletes ng PhilCycling ni Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino sa kampeonato na itinaguyod ng Tagaytay City at suportado ng Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, MVP Sports Foundation at Sports Plus PH.  Ang Kazakhstan (2-0-0) at Japan (1-4-7) ay nasa top 5 sa  medal tally kung saan ang powerhouse Malaysia ay may 2 silvers at bronze.
