Pinalagan ni Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III ang rekomendasyon ni Manila Mayor Isko Moreno sa national government na huwag nang gawing mandatoryo ang pagsusuot ng face shield kontra COVID-19.
Ayon kay Duque, “Okay ang mungkahi ni Mayor Isko kung malaki na (ang) vaccination coverage natin.”
Paliwanag pa niya, “Hindi pa puwedeng tanggalin ang face shield policy for now when our two-dose vaccination coverage is a little over 2% due to still inadequate vaccine supply.”
Giit naman ni Mayor Moreno, "Tayo na lang yata sa buong mundo ang nagre-require ng face shield sa kalsada. Dapat pag-isipan ulit ito. Marami na tayong natutuhan. We should adjust."
Matatandaang naging mandatoryo sa ‘Pinas ang pagsusuot ng face shield at face mask bilang proteksiyon ng publiko laban sa lumalaganap na virus.
“There are many scientific studies showing that face shields in combination with face masks and more than 1 meter social distancing provide a greater than 95% protection,” sabi pa ni Duque.
