Kasunod ng kumalat na social media post ng UP Fighting Maroons Club Facebook page nitong Mayo 10 kaugnay ng pangha-harass umano sa mga student-athletes ng kanilang unibersidad, pinabulaanan ng Quezon City Police District ang lumabas na alegasyon at iginiit na wala umanong nangyaring ganoong insidente.
Ayon sa naturang FB post, “It was reported earlier today that several of our student-athletes were stopped by the police on their way back to the campus, simply because of their affiliation with the University of the Philippines as an institution.
The UP Fighting Maroons Club condemns the police’s actions that threatened and traumatized our Iskolar ng Bayan. These are the very people who have sworn to keep the citizenry safe, but have now instilled fear in the hearts of the youth instead.
STOP HARRASSING OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES!
END THE CULTURE OF IMPUNITY!”
Gayunman, batay sa validation report na inilabas ng Anonas Police Station, ani PLTCOL Ritchie Claravall, wala umanong katotohanan ang naturang ulat at itinanggi rin umano ito mismo ng UP Diliman Police Department, taliwas sa kumalat na Facebook post ng UP Fight Club.
Dahil dito, mahigpit na pinaalalahanan ni QCPD Director PBGEN Remus Medina ang publiko na mag-ingat aniya sa mga isini-share at ipino-post na balita sa social media.
Babala nito, may karampatang parusa ang pagpo-post ng mga peke o maling impormasyon sa social media, sang-ayon sa R.A.10175 o Cybercrime Prevention Act.
