Election gun ban violators halos 1.8K na — PNP

Umabot na sa 1,791 indibidwal ang naaresto dahil sa paglabag sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban, ayon sa Philippine National Police (PNP) nitong Linggo, March 13.


Kabilang sa mga arestado ay 1,740 civilians, 27 security guards, 15 police officers, at 9 military personnel, batay sa pahayag ng PNP.


Dagdag pa rito, 1,673 police operations naman ang isinagawa kung saan nakumpiska ang 1,379 firearms, 7,634 piraso ng ammunition, at 650 deadly weapons.


Sa datos ng PNP, ang top five regions na may pinakamaraming arrested violators ay ang National Capital Region — 598, sinundan ng Central Visayas — 189; Central Luzon — 124; Calabarzon — 187; at Western Visayas — 100.


Ayon sa Comelec Resolution No. 10728c ipinagbabawal ang pagdadala, pagbitbit, o pag-transport ng mga firearms o deadly weapons sa labas ng tahanan at sa lahat ng pampublikong lugar mula Jan. 9 hanggang June 8.


Ang mga violators ay posibleng maparusahan ng pagkakakulong mula 1 hanggang 6 na taon, disqualification to hold public office, at deprivation of the right to vote.
