Umakyat na sa 82 ang kumpirmadong bilang ng mga nasawi sa sunog sa COVID-19 hospital sa Baghdad at 110 ang sugatan, ayon sa Interior Ministry spokesman.
Sumiklab ang sunog noong Sabado sa Ibn Khatib hospital sa Diyala Bridge area matapos sumabog ang oxygen cylinder tank dahil umano sa maling storage nito.
Dahil sa insidente, nanawagan din si Interior Ministry Spokesman Khalid al-Muhanna na i-review ang safety measures ng lahat ng ospital upang maiwasan ang ganitong pangyayari.
Aniya, "We urgently need to review safety measures at all hospitals to prevent such a painful incident from happening in future.”
Ipinag-utos naman ni Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi ang imbestigasyon sa insidente.
Aniya, "Such an incident is evidence of negligence and therefore I directed that an investigation be launched immediately and for the hospital's manager and the heads of security and maintenance to be detained along with all those concerned until we identify those negligent and hold them accountable.”
