P1-B na gastos sa atleta sa SEAG, hindi masasayang

Hinikayat ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman at Chef De Mission William “Butch” Ramirez ang pambansang atleta na panalunin nila ang overall championship at iaalay ito para sa inang bayan.

Inaasahan ng pinuno ng ahensiya ng pampalakasan na ang pinamuhunan nitong P1-B para sa atletang Filipino ay magbubunga balang-araw upang maabot ng mga ito ang pagiging world-class standards lalo na ang paghahanda para sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics at Hangzhou Asian Games sa 2022. “Go for the golds as if your life depended on them and an entire nation will be grateful. Let’s bring good news to everyone. We need it, all Filipinos need it,” saad ni Ramirez, kasabay ng pakiusap sa mga pambansang atleta na ginastusan ng gobyerno.

Karamihan sa mga pinondohan ng gobyerno ay ang pandaigdigang pagsasanay at exposure sa torneo, mga kagamitan, foreign coaches, edukasyon at nutrisyon ng mga atleta at sa tingin nila ay hindi sila nagkulang. “Government has been very supportive of our national athletes. And it’s high time that such support gets the results expected from the athletes’ all-out campaign in the SEA Games. We expect nothing less than a 100 percent effort from our national athletes in front of their fellow Filipinos, who I am very sure, will come out in droves to support them,” wika ni Ramirez.

Isasalang ang pinakamalaking delegado ng Pilipinas sa biennial meet na umaabot sa 1,115 athletes at 753 coaches at official’s para sa kabuuang 1,868 kung saan tinatarget nitong makuha ang may pinakamaraming gold medal sa nakatayang 530 gold sa 56 sports ng 44 venues.

Malaki ang inaasahang hahakot ng medalya ay mula sa combat sports at tinatantiyang ang Arnis ang makakarami ng 15 gold sa 20 event. May makukuha ang bansa na tig-5 mula sa judo, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, sambo, wrestling. “Nobody expected us to win in 2005, but we did,” wika ni Ramirez. “For nine days that year, Filipinos were united by our athletes’ sporting achievement. We did it once, let’s do it again, for flag and country.”
