Asian University Basketball lalarga na sa Lyceum

Idaraos na ang 11th Asian University Basketball Championship ngayong Lunes, Nob. 18, sa Lyceum of the Philippines gymnasium sa Intramuros, Manila.

Inorganisa ng Federation of the School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) katuwang ang Asian University Basketball Federation (AUBF) at Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP), ang torneo ay lalahukan ng apat na foreign teams at dalawang local teams na Nippon Sport Science University (NSSU) at Kindai University ng Japan; ang Kuala Lumpur Basketball Association ng Malaysia, Ho Chi Minh City basketball team ng Vietnam, Mapua University at host school Lyceum of the Philippines University.

Mangangasiwa sina AUBC Organizing Committee Chairman Robert Milton A. Calo at Commissioner Leonardo ‘Ding’ Andres sa torneo katuwang ang host LPU sa pamumuno ni sports director Hector Calanta.

Lalarga ang opening ceremony ng 9 a.m. na dadaluhan ng invited guest speakers na sina Manny Pacquiao at Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go, Presidential Adviser for Sports Dennis Uy at FESSAP President Angelo Ngu. Sasagupa agad ang LPU Pirates, two-time finalists sa NCAA sa Japan NSSU sa 10 a.m. opener, kasunod ng bakbakan sa pagitan ng Mapua at Kindai University ng 2 p.m., kasunod ng HCMC vs KLBA (Malaysia) ng 4 p.m.

Sinabi ni Commissioner Andres na ang top team matapos ang single-round elimination ay awtomatikong magkakampeon pero kung mag-tie, sa quotient na lang magkakatalo.
