Triathletes, bubuno ng 3-peat title sa SEAG

Tiwala ang Philippine Triathlon Team na mapananatili nila ang korona ng Southeast Asian Games sa ikatlong diretsong pagkakataon.

Siyento-porsiyentong nakahanda ang SEA Games-bound Philippine National Triathletes bunga na rin ng impresibo nilang mga resulta sa nakaraang 2019 ASTC Acaba Triathlon Asian Cup sa Acaba, Jordan noong Biyernes.

Tumapos si 2017 SEA Games gold medalist Kim Mangrobang na 5th place sa record na 2:07.25 segundo, habang si Filipino-American Kim Kilgroe ay pumuwesto sa 7th na may oras na 2:10.20 habang si 2015 SEA Games champion Ma. Clare Adorna ay nasa ranked 10th, sa tinapos na 2:24.48 na lahat sa elite women’s category.

Tumapos na nasa 27th si John Chicano at si Edward Macalala ay 29th sa men’s category. Kumpiyansa si Coach Melvin Fausto na kayang dominahin ng Pilipinas ang lahat ng 6 na events sa nalalapit na 30th SEAG tulad ng nagawa nila noong 2015 at 2017 SEAG na pinamunuan ni Niko Huelgas.

Naniniwala si Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez na ang Pinoy Triathletes ay mag-uubos ng lakas sa kompetisyon laban sa iba pang bansa.

“Our athletes, through the proper management of their coaches and the national sports associations, have remained deep in focus as they aim for medal victories in the Sea Games, They are also aware that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are just around. The SEA Games will be a takeoff point for some of them. Let us support their bids and pray for their victory,” saad ni Ramirez.

Sina John Chicano at Andrew Kim Remolino ang tanging pambato ng bansa sa Men’s Triathlon Individual competition habang sina defending champion Kim Mangrobang at Kim Kilgroe ang magbabanatan para sa Women’s Individual Gold sa event.
