“We (GAB officials) see better days ahead in boxing, following our successful dialogues with promoters and managers in Davao, recently and Makati, last July 31,” kuwento ni GAB Boxing and Other Contact Sports officer-in charge Jackie Lou Cacho sa 34th ‘Usapang Sports’ ng Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports sa National Press Club noong Huwebes.“Naging maganda naman ‘yung dialogue, na para sa ikabubuti ng boxing dito sa atin,” dagdag ni Cacho sa weekly sports forum na iniisponsoran ng Philippine Sports Commission, National Press Club, PAGCOR, Community Basketball Association at HG Guyabano Tea Leaf Drink.
Tinalakay at napagkasunduan sa consultative meeting ang mga sumusunod: 1) Required age for a new professional boxer, which is 18 years old and above, as stipulated in EO 120; 2) Waiving the Special Work Permit (SWP) for foreign boxers coming in the country subject to immigration laws and other applicable laws; 3) Submission of a copy of a professional boxers license and authority to fight stating he is fit to fight for all foreign boxers where they are based; 4) New license renewal system, which will be on annual basis during the transition period; 5) Filing of application and submission to GAB of the complete fight card not earlier than 60 days but not later than 10 days before the contest; 6) Submission of individual matches for pre-approval of GAB to ensure that upcoming fights will not be disapproved due to mismatched boxers; 7) Release of a maximum of 40 percent of the boxers’ purse to the boxer or manager to cover training expenses and payment of the balance immediately after the fight; 8) Suspension of boxers for six months for failure to appear during the fight without justifiable reason; 9) Contracts between managers and boxers must be for four years.
