POSITIBO SA SEAG MEDAL ANG GILAS WOMEN’S TEAM

MATATAG ang paniniwala ng Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Team na malaki ang kanilang tsansa sa nalalapit na 30th edisyon ng Southeast Asian Games simula Nobyembre 30-Disyembre 11 sa bansa.

Sasandalan nila ang nakuhang eksperyensya sa nakalipas na 2019 Women’s Jones Cup kung saan nangulelat ang kanilang koponan laban sa mga mas buo at magandang samahan ng ibang bansang kalahok dito. “We did not have the chemistry and the fluidity. The talent is there. It’s just that the other teams had chemistry,” pahayag ni Head Coach Pat Aquino. “We did not win a game in the Jones Cup but the fact that we were there for the first time means we gained the experience,” dagdag ng multi-titled coach mula sa National University.

Hindi nagawang makalusot ng Pinay dribblers sa mga koponang gaya ng New Zealand, Japan, Taipei A, South Korea at Taipei B, dahilan upang mabokya ang koponan na itinurong ugat ang kakulangan ng experience at matagal na samahan.

“We had a tough time because it was the first time for our players, including the Fil-Americans, to play together. It was a short tournament. Our players had tough time communicating inside the court,” wika ni Aquino na siya nang pormal na hahawak sa Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) program ng women’s basketball.

Inamin ni Aquino na handang-handa na umano ang women’s team sa oras na ganapin ang biennial meet sa bansa na nakatakdang simulan mula Disyembre 4-10 sa Mall of Asia Arena. “We will be a much better team heading to the SEA Games. I hope we can deliver in December,” wika ni Aquino na naghahanda rin para sa FIBA Women’s Asia Cup sa Bangalore, India mula Setyembre 22 hanggang 29.
