SUAREZ AT PHL WOMEN’S HOCKEY BIBIDA SA TOPS USAPANG SPORTS

PANAUHIN ang RIO Olympics veteran at three-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Charly Suarez at ang Philippine women’s hockey team na nakasungkit ng gold medal sa 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s Challenge Cup sa 19th “Usapang Sports” ng Tabloid Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) ngayong Huwebes, Abril 25 sa National Press Club sa Intramuros.

Si Suarez na determi­nadong makasungkit ng gold medal sa 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games mula nang maging pro noong 2018 ay mag­sasalita hinggil sa kanyang nalalapit na title fight sa Davao sa Mayo 10.

Bisita rin sina Jilson Ba­sang, founder/owner ng Mabuhay Promotions, Delfin Boholst, Suarez coach at sparring partner, Philippine women’s hockey team coach Carl Montano, team captain Georgie Regencia, Eadrea Ham at Kathleen Tan na magbabahagi ng kanilang gold medal-winning performance simula sa 10 a.m. session na itinaguyod ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), at National Press Club (NPC).

Tatlong medalya ang napagwagian ni Suarez, ang 30-anyos na tubong Sawata, Davao del Norte mula sa Southeast Asian Games — 2009 (gold, featherweight), 2011 (gold, lightweight) at 2017 (bronze, light welterweight) at silver noong 2014 Incheon Asian Games sa kanyang 12 taon bilang amateur. Sumabak din siya noong 2016 Rio Olympics. Bilang pro, nagwagi si Suarez kontra Ernesto Cagampang noong Enero at kay Justin Cabarle noong Marso. (MC)
