Pagkatakot ng publiko sa bakuna | PAO CHIEF ACOSTA, ‘DI DAPAT SISIHIN — PALASYO

IDINEPENSA kahapon ng Malacañang si Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida Rueda-Acosta makaraang sisihin ito kaya natakot magpabakuna ang mga magulang sa kanilang mga anak dahil sa mga naging pahayag nito laban sa dengue vaccine na Dengvaxia.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, hindi dapat sisihin si Acosta kung hindi na nagtiwala ang mga magulang sa bakuna para sa ibang sakit dahil sa nasabing kontrobersiya.

“You know, the PAO chief, as a lawyer, is defending or pursuing a theory that favors her clients. In other words, she is pursuing an advocacy. I cannot be blaming her for that,” sabi ni Panelo sa press briefing sa Palasyo.

“As far as she is concerned, she is doing her job of protecting the parents of [children who] she perceived to be dying by reason of Dengvaxia,” dagdag pa ni Panelo.

Nilinaw din nito na hindi pinupolitika ni Acosta ang isyu sa Dengvaxia dahil ipinagtatanggol lamang nito ang mga magulang na namatayan ng anak dahil sa naturang dengue vaccine.

“Even if we do that as lawyers, we are confronted with the realities that our position may affect and impact negatively on the general public,” ani Panelo.

“If she feels her advocacy has affected the people into not believing on immunization, including immunization from other illnesses, then she should do something about it,” dagdag pa ng tagapagsalita ng Palasyo.
