INIHAHANDANG mabuti ni Team Pacquiao chief trainer Buboy Fernandez ang kanyang sinasanay ngayon na kababatang si WBA welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao para sa isang knockout victory laban kay Adrien Broner sa Enero 19 (Enero 20 sa ‘Pinas).

“Of course, we’ll be preparing Manny to win by KO,” saad ni Buboy na lumabas sa Philboxing. “Now we have restored Manny’s strength, speed and sharpness. I do want him to do that. When the opportunity comes, he should take advantage of it. When opportunity comes any time in the fight, it should be taken. We have prepared Manny [for that]. When you see the opportunity to end the opponent, end him. Perhaps you lose the opportunity (to take the opponent out and then that opportunity) never comes back.”

“Manny knows that (he can get the knockout). He can feel it within him,” ani Buboy hinggil sa kanyang kababata. “I am very pleased with the training camp Manny has had. His footwork, distance and angles are all coming together nicely. When he hits the mitts it sounds like an explosion. I have never felt such raw power.”

Idinagdag ni Buboy na sandaling tapusin na nila ang traing camp sa LA ay mag­tutungo na sila sa Las Vegas, “Manny will be in razor-sharp shape, I tell you. Both physically and mentally. He knows that he will do with whatever situation comes.”

Samantala, dalawang malaking laban naman ngayong 2019 ang haharapin ni Donnie Nietes.

Ayon sa kanyang chief trainer, na si Edito Villamor, ikakasa nila sa two big fights ang newly-crowned WBO super-flyweight champion dahil tatlong laban ang nagawa nito ng nakaraang taon. Si Nietes ay naging four-division champion nitong nagdaang bisperas ng Bagong Taon nang talunin si Kazuto Ioka ng Japan sa Macau. Bago pa man ang kanyang laban kay Ioka, tatlong fighter na ang nais makaharap ng 36-anyos na si Nietes sa 115-lb class. (MC)
