TINAPOS ng De La Salle-Dasmariñas ang kampanya nang may magandang laro nang lupigin ang Colegio San Agustin-Biñan, 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 25-16, sa Philippine Superliga Collegiate Grand Slam kahapon sa Mall of Asia Arena. Sa bisa ng tikas nina Eunice Castillo, Rain Ramos at Basilyn Delfin nakabawi ang Lady Patriots mula sa kalawang na third set at magwagi sa unang sabak sa collegiate tourney.

Kumunekta si Castillo ng 16 puntos sa bisa ng 7 kills, aces at 3 blocks habang sina Ramos at Delfin ay may tig-14 puntos para sa Lady Patriots, na nakuha ang kaisa-isang panalo sa limang laban.

Nakagawa ng 14 excellent sets si setter Myell Joy Pasco habang si libero Pearl Peña ay rumehistro ng 17 digs at 14 excellent receptions. “We failed to win against UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines) teams because we were star-struck and very conscious,” ayon kay La Salle coach Joven Racelis, kung saan ang kampanya ay nakamit ang once-in-a lifetime na tsansa na makagpalaro sa Pasay venue. “I think we’re on the same level with CSA because we both came from the south. So the team played its heart out and gave its all,” sabi ni Joven kung saan hindi ito makalilimutan ng kanyang players na makapaglaro sa prestihiyosong liga.

“This is our first time to play in this semi-professional league,” ani Joven, na napanood din ang team niya sa National Capital Region Athletic Association na pinagmulan ng PSL stars tulad nina Iumi Yongco ng Foton at Cindy Amutan ng Cignal.

“I told my players just to get experience here regardless of the result. If given another chance, we will put up a great fight.” Nakapagdeliber sina Aliah Marce at Lency Duarte ng 14 at 13 points para sa Eagles. (VA / MC)
