HUELGAS, PAKAY ANG 3RD STRAIGHT PHIL SEA GAMES GOLD MEDAL

GIGIL na muling makabawi ang champion triathlete na si Nikko Huelgas ng Team Go For Gold upang mapanatili ang Southeast Asian Games title sa harap ng kanyang mga kababayan. Muling ipinakita ni back-to-back SEA Games gold medalist ang dating porma na nagpaangat sa kanya sa men’s elite category sa 2018 National Age Group Triathlon na idinaos sa Naga, Cebu. “I was surprised with my own performance because I really had a bad season this year and I don’t know why,’’ ani Huelgas.

Ginapi ni Huelgas si Go For Gold teammate Andrew Kim Remolino at Jorry Ycong ng Rider Omega Tri team sa bisa ng 3 minuto matapos maorasan ng 2 hours, 2 mins at 4 secs sa 1.5-km swim, 40-km bike at 10-km run race.

Inaayudahan ng Go For Gold Philippines ni Jeremy Go ang overseas training at kompetisyon ng men’s elite triathlon squad na nakahakot ng ilang medalya at accolades para sa national team.

Kamakailan, pinangunahan ni ace triathlete John Leerams Chicano ang prestihiyosong Tri-Factor International Triathlon sa Quzhou, China sa ilalim ng Go For Gold Philippines banner. Ang nakakukumbinsing panalo sa NAGT ang nagpamotiba kay Huelgas, pinuno ng Athletes Commission sa Philippine Olympic Committee upang magpursige tungo sa ikatlong gold medal sa SEAG na idaraos sa Clark at Subic sa huling bahagi ng 2019.

“I’m concerned about injuries. It can readily end my bid for a third straight gold, plus the fact that all countries are steadily improving so I don’t want to be complacent,’’ ani Huelgas.
