WRESTLER ANGANA, 5 PANG PINOY, NAKA-6 GOLD SA SEA CHAMPIONSHIPS


NAGPAKITA ng maiigting na lakas ang Team Go-For-Gold Philippines at nagparamdam ng kahandaan sa Southeast Asian Games sa 2019 matapos kumulekta ng 6 na gold medal sa katatapos na Southeast Asian Senior Wrestling Championships sa Dalubhasaan Lungsod ng San Pablo sa Laguna.

Namayani sina veteran grapplers Margarito Angana at Michael Vijay Cater sa kani-kanilang weight classes sa Greco Roman event kasama si Noel Norada sa week-long meet tampok ang pinakamahuhusay na wrestlers sa 11-nation region.

Hindi kumupas ang skills ni Angana mula nang maging 2-time SEA Games gold medalist nang talunin si Plyabut Wiratul ng Thailand sa men’s 60kg habang si Cater ang nagkampeon sa 55kg title kontra Thai Nattawut Keawkhanchum bago ang magkasunod na tatlo ni Norada nang talunin si Pham Van Co ng Vietnam.

Nakapag-uwi ang Vietnam ng 12 gold, 11 silver at 8 bronze para sa overall title ng torneo na pakay paangatin ang kompetisyon sa Southeast Asian level.

Naka-bronze medal sina Greco Roman specialists Jonathan Maquilan (63kg), Exel Tubog (67kg), Jason Baucas (72kg), Ronaldo Salon (97kg) at Smael Trazona (130kg) at freestyle wrestlers Alvin Lobreguito (57kg), Jhonny Morte (61kg), Joseph Angana (65kg), Jossel Canolas (65kg), Anthony Pajaron (70kg) at Royce Tiu (86kg). Sumagupa rin si Tener sa 65kg wo­men free­style event at na­kakuha ng bronze kasa­ma si B­e­my­la Bernas (57kg). (MC/ATD)
