Rapid antibody test kits, hindi iba-ban ng DOH

Matapos ang panawagan ng ilang medical experts na ipagbawal na ang paggamit ng rapid antibody test kits dahil hindi ito umano “reliable”, naglabas ng pahayag ang Department of Health (DOH) na hindi nila iba-ban ang paggamit nito ngunit maglalabas sila ng guidelines para sa COVID-19 tests.

Saad ni Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, “Hindi naman kailangan i-ban (ang rapid antibody tests) kasi may gamit s’ya sa ating (COVID-19) response.

“Puwedeng gamitin ang rapid antibody test sa mga pasyente na nakaka-recover na o puwede nang ma-tag as recovered.”

Nilinaw din ni Vergeire na mayroon na silang mga ekspertong gumagawa ng “Omnibus Guidelines” para sa lahat ng COVID-related tests.

Aniya, “So gusto lang natin may isang dokumento na magre-refer lahat ng gumagamit kung ano’ng appropriate use for each testing methodology.”

Saad pa niya, “‘Yung antigen testing, mas accurate s'ya sa rapid. Pero hindi pa rin s'ya standalone test.

“Ang ating antigen test very, sensitive and accurate for the first 5 days of illness.”
