Pumanaw na ang chairman ng Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) na si Yusop Jikiri noong Sabado nang gabi, ayon sa Bangsamoro Parliament and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Kabilang sa mga nagpahayag ng pakikiramay sa pamilya ni Jikiri ay sina Bangsamoro Government Executive Secretary Abdulraof Macacua, MNLF Central Committee First Vice-Chairman Punduma Sani at parliament members na sina Zia Alonto Adiong, Sittie Shahara “Dimple” Mastura, at Marjanie Macasalong Mimbantas.
Wala namang binanggit na dahilan ng pagkamatay ni Jikiri.
Pahayag ni Mastura sa kanyang Facebook post, “My PRAYERS and Condolence to the family of Chairman Yusof Jikiri of the MNLF Central Committee.
“I was saddened to his demise.. He is one of Bangsamoro leader worthy of imitation, his aspiration for Bangsamoro people and the peace effort is undeniably and shall be forever be remembered.”
Pahayag naman ni AFP chief-of-staff Gen. Gilbert Gapay, "The AFP joins every peace-loving Filipino in mourning the passing away of Yusop Jikiri, the beloved chairman of the Moro National Liberation Front.
"He is one of the strong pillars who advocated trust and respect as key to achieving lasting peace and development not only in the Province of Sulu but of the Bangsamoro.
"Ako, sampu ng bawat miyembro ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas, ay nagpupugay sa kanyang napakalaking ambag sa kapayapaan at pagkakaunawaan sa Katimugang bahagi ng ating bansa."
