Ayon kay House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano marami pang magagawa ang gobyerno para masugpo ang pandemya. Dahil ginagawa ng iba’t ibang ahensiya ng gobyerno ang lahat ng kanilang makakaya para sa COVID-19.
Sa isang panayam sinabi ni Cayetano, “We can do more. I think even the President is not satisfied. Meaning, it is what it is but there’s definitely much more than we can do,”
“So I do think that all the departments are working very hard, walang natutulog sa pansitan ika nga (no one is sleeping on it) even Congress. But I do think that there’s so much more that can be done,”
Ayon pa kay Cayetano isa sa mga tinitignan nila para mapabilis ang pagsugpo sa coronavirus ay makipag-coordinate at makipag-cooperate ang dalawang national governments ang Accelerated Recovery and Investments Stimulus for the Economy (ARISE) Act at COVID-19 Unemployment Reduction Economic Stimulus (CURES) Act of 2020.
Ang ARISE bill ay nag-alok ng Php 1.3 trilyon para muling maibalik ang ekonomiya sa bansa “for programs and policies that support the country’s emergence from an economy adversely affected by COVID-19.” at ang CURSE bill ay maglalaan ng Php 1.5 triyon pondo na naghahati sa tatlong taon, priyoridad ang mga infrastructure projects para makapag-provide ng mga empleyado.
Gayunman, sinabi ni Cayetano, ang mga badyet ay maaari pa ring ayusin depende sa Senado at pulong ng mga executive department na priyoridad ng House of Representatives kaugnay sa “lives and livelihood.”
“I think really yung testing, yung capability nung hospital, upgrading our health centers will be a priority then yung livelihood,” ani Cayetano
