Inanunsiyo ng College of the Holy Spirit of Manila (CHSM) na isasara na ang kanilang eskuwelahan epektibo sa 2022 dahil sa malaking hamong kinaharap mula sa private education sector dulot ng pandemya ng COVID-19.

Nabuo ang desisyon ng mga CHSM stakeholders na isara ang eskuwelahan mula sa isang sulat na nanggaling sa provincial leader na si Sr. Carmelita Victoria noong October 28. Nahirapan nang husto ang pamunuan ng CHSM na makaagapay sa polisiya ng gobyerno tulad ng K-12, kompetisyon sa mga state colleges at universities na libre ang tuition fee at ang dagdag na pasuweldo para sa mga guro sa mga pampublikong paaralan.

"The recent COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the situation. The reduction or loss in family income, mobility restrictions and social distancing requirements, and the new demands of distance learning have adversely affected enrolment, not only in CHSM, but in most private schools as well," ayon sa inilabas na statement ng CHSM.

"After consultation with representatives of our stakeholders, and a deep and prayerful process of discernment, we are now even more convinced that the Holy Spirit is speaking clearly to us through the signs of the times, compelling us to make this extremely difficult decision: to close CHSM at the end of academic year 2021-2022," dagdag ng CHSM.

Gayunman, ayon sa CHSM, ang mga estudyante mula Grade 11 hanggang 3rd-year college ay makaka-graduate pa rin sakaling gusto nilang manatili sa paaralan.

Subali’t hindi na bubuksan pa ang academic year 2021-2022 para sa Levels K hanggang Grade 11 at 1st hanggang 3rd-year college.

"We are committed to stand by you, our stakeholders, and assist you in every way we can make this transition as smooth as possible," ayon pa sa CHSM.

Samantala, una nang nag-anunsiyo ang STI Education Services Group Inc. ng pagsasara ng pito nilang eskuwelahan at suspension ng lima pang paaralan nito dahil sa mababang bilang ng enrollees.
