Chinese officials na sangkot sa militarization sa South China Sea, pinatawan ng travel ban sa US

Inaksiyunan ng United States ang military build-up ng Beijing sa South China Sea at ayon sa administrasyyong Trump ay mananagot ang mga Chinese officials na responsable rito.

Ayon sa State Department, ang mga Chinese officials at business executives na may kinalaman sa naturang militarization ay hindi na maaaring mag-travel sa US gayundin ang miyembro ng pamilya ng mga sangkot dito.

Saad din ng US Commerce Department, dahil sa pagtatayo ng artificial islands na nakapagdulot ng “environmental damage” sa ibang bansa ay blacklisted na ang 24 state-owned Chinese enterprises.

Saad ni Secretary of State Mike Pompeo ang papatawan ng travel ban ang mga Chinese nationals na “responsible for, or complicit in, either the large-scale reclamation, construction, or militarization of disputed outposts in the South China Sea, or (China’s) use of coercion against Southeast Asian claimants to inhibit their access to offshore resources.”

Aniya pa, “The United States will act until we see Beijing discontinue its coercive behavior in the South China Sea, and we will continue to stand with allies and partners in resisting this destabilizing activity.”
