Sports icons, magpupugay sa SEAG Team Philippines

Magbibigay motibasyon ang Filipino Sports heroes sa pangunguna nina Olympic medalists Mansueto “Onyok’’ Velasco Jr. at Pol Serrantes ng boxing sa mga Pinoy athletes na sasabak sa 30th Southeast Asian Games sa idaraos na Team Philippines Send-off Ng Bayan ngayong Miyerkules sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium sa Manila.

Magpupugay din sina bowling hall of famers Paeng Nepomuceno at Bong Coo para sa national squad at hikayatin sila na ilabas ang pinakamahusay na performance sa biennial games sa Nob. 30-Dis. 11 kasama si Asia’s first chess grandmaster Eugene Torre.

Ibabahagi rin nina Track and field icons Lydia De Vega-Mercado at Elma Muros-Posadas ang kanilang mga kuwentong tagumpay sa harap ng may 1,115 Pinoy athletes mula sa 56 na sports, lahat sila ay pakay na muling ibalik sa bansa ang SEAG overall title.

“Our athletes are the heart and soul of the country’s campaign in the Olympics,’’ ayon kay Team Philippines chef de mission at Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William I. Ramirez.

Bukod kay Ramirez, may mensahe rin sina Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino at House Speaker at Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee chairman Alan Peter Cayetano sa mga atleta kabilang na ang mga paralympic athletes na pursigihin ang laro sa SEAG. Imbitado rin sina Senador Bong Go, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports maging si Manila City mayor Francisco ‘Isko’ Moreno Domagoso.

“With the all-out support of the government, I’m positive that our athletes will deliver,’’ ani Ramirez, na dati ring pinamunuan ang Team Pilipinas bilang Chef de Mission para sa unang overall title noong 2005 Manila SEAG.
