BATANG PINOY VISAYAS ILALATAG NA SA ILOILO

INAASAHAN ang may 3,000 atleta mula sa 67 local government units sa buong rehiyon ng Visa­yas ang la­lahok sa Phi­lippine Sports Commis­sion’s Batang Pi­noy qua­lifying leg na mag­sisimula sa Linggo sa Iloilo City.

“The city and province of Iloilo have been wanting to host the Batang Pinoy and we are glad it’s finally hap­pening here,” ayon kay Iloilo City Youth and Sports Development Of­fice Head Moises Salo­mon Jr.

Idinagdag ni National Secretariat Deputy Head Paul Ycasas na, “final pre­parations are currently being done to assist not just the athletes, but also the 572 coaches and 135 de­legation officials atten­ding the games.”

Tulad ng Mindanao leg sa Tagum, Davao del Norte noong Peb. 2-9, ang PSC grassroots sporting event sa in-school at out-of-school children para sa 15-anyos pababa ay mag­babakbakan para sa 20 disiplina sa 15 iba’t ibang playing venues.

Gagamitin ang La Paz Elem. School, Graciano, Pi­son Elem. School, Mon­tes, Jaro at Jalandoni Me­morial Nat’l High School bilang mga billeting areas ng mga atleta sa kabuuan ng games.

Noong Nobyembre 2017, nasungkit ng Cebu City ang Batang Pinoy Visayas leg overall title na may 46 gold medals, 59 silver medals at 69 bronze medals, sume­gunda ang host Dumaguete City sa 41 gold, 29 silver at 44 bronze.
