Daesang awardee… LEE SEUNG GI, TINALO ANG MGA BETERANONG EMCEE SA KOREA

SI Lee Seung Gi ang nagkamit ng Dae­sang o Grand Prize award sa katatapos lamang na SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) Entertainment Awards 2018 na ginanap last Friday night, Dec. 28. Ito ang pinakamataas na parangal na ibini­­­bigay sa isang artista sa alinmang award-giving body sa South Korea.

Nakamit ni Lee Seung Gi ang nasa­bing parangal para sa kanyang variety show na Master in The House/All The Butlers at tinalo niya ang mga betera­nong MC (tawag sa emcee sa Korea) tulad nina Kang Ho Dong, Yoo Jae Suk, Baek Jong Won and Shin Dong Yup.

Sa kanyang mahaba at sinserong acceptance speech ay nagpasalamat si Lee Seung Gi sa mga kasamahan niya sa MITH na sina Lee Sang Yoon, Yang Se Hyeong at Yuk Sung Jae and the entire production team.

Pinasalamatan din niya ang kanyang mentor sa variety show at nakasa­ma niya sa 2 Days and 1 Night na si Kang Ho Dong kung saan ay napa­karami raw niyang natutu­nan. Ba­gama’t wala ang natu­rang veteran host sa event, ani Seunggi ay alam niyang nanonood ito sa TV at ma­saya para sa kanyang award.

At one point ay naging teary-eyed ang maga­ling na singer/aktor/MC ha­bang nag­papa­salamat.

“I’m receiving an award that I only dreamed about. Now that I’ve actually won Daesang, I’m feeling a lot of complicated feelings.

“I know myself that I’m not receiving this award because of my own skills. There are a lot of bright seniors and juniors in front of me today. I believe that the lessons that I’ve learned from them has made me who I am today. That’s why I’m standing where I stand today.

“I think everyone who appeared on Master In The House touched the hearts of our audience with their experience, philosophy and beliefs. This award means that much more. Weekend variety shows has a special meaning for me. I’m overwhelmed that I could receive a prize for it,” ang bahagi ng speech ni Seunggi as translated in English by Koreaboo.

Hindi rin niya nakalimutang pasala­matan ang kanyang agency, ang Hook Entertainment.

“At this precious hour, the person that I want to thank is my label’s CEO, who is my greatest blessing and life’s mentor.

“He took me in when I was a nobody in high school and helped me debut as a singer. During my first variety show, I was so scared that I wanted to run away. He told me, ‘In about 10 years, an era will come where you need to crossover various industries.’ The late night les­sons in the basement, where I learned how to ad-lib, helped me become who I am today

“I want to con­­tinue with him forever.”

Pinasalamatan din ni Seung Gi, of course, ang kan­yang parents and last but not the least, hindi niya nakalimutang banggitin ang kanyang Airen (his official fans club) na dahilan daw kung bakit siya nakatayo sa kinatatayuan ngayon.

Bukod kay Lee Seung Gi, hindi rin umuwing luhaan ang kanyang tatlong co-members dahil nanalo rin lahat ang mga ito ng award.

Si Yang Se Heong ang nagwagi ng Top Excellence Award (Show/Talk), habang si Yuk Sung Jae naman ang nag-uwi ng Excellence Award in Variety. Male Roo­kie award naman ang inuwi ni Lee Sang Yoon.
