Aprubado na ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases ang mga construction and infrastructure projects na ikinukonsiderang essential sa ilalim ng enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, inamiyendahan ang Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quarantine in the Philippines upang payagan na ang mga private at public construction firms na mag-operate sa mga essential projects sa harap ng COVID-19 pandemic.
Kabilang dito ang mga construction projects para sa quarantine at isolation facilities maging ang mga may kinalaman sa emergency works, flood control at iba pang disaster risk reduction and rehabilitation programs, sewerage projects, water service facility projects at digital works.
“‘Yung priority public infrastructure projects, as well as priority private infrastructure projects defined as those that refer to food production, agriculture, fishery, fish port development, energy, housing, communication, water facilities, manufacturing, and business process outsourcing, shall likewise be allowed in accordance to guidelines issued by the WHO [World Health Organization],” paliwanag ni Roque.
Kaugnay nito, makakabalik na rin ang construction workers sa kanilang mga trabaho na accredited ng Department of Public Works and Highways sa ilalim ng ECQ.
“Pinayagan din po ang ilang construction projects sa general community quarantine. Ang general rule po, lahat po ng public and private construction projects ay pupuwede na sa mga lugar na GCQ pero kinakailangan po kumo-comply dun sa mga construction safety guidelines para sa implementation ng infrastructure projects during the COVID-19 pandemic,” giit pa ni Roque.
