SEAG golds, hindi pakakawalan ng PHL boxing team

Hindi ganoon kadali ang daan tungo sa glorya, pero para sa Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) malakas ang kanilang tsansa sa 30th SEA Games.

Aminado si ABAP Secretary-General Ed Picson na mas pinalakas pa ng ibang bansa ang kanilang mga boksingero dahil pakay nilang walisin ang panalo sa prestihiyosong biennial meet na idaraos sa Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) sa Pasay City simula sa Dis. 3.

Walang prediksiyon sa medalya ang boxing executive pero tinitiyak niya na gagawin nila ang lahat upang ikarangal sila ng bansa.

“I don’t do medal projections as there are too many variables that we have to consider. But I can say that our boxers are in excellent shape,” dagdag ni Picson at aniya ang officiating, conditioning at ang draw ay malaking bagay para sa kanilang golden bid.

“But it’s going to be tough. It’s no longer just Thailand that will come up with a good fight. We have information that other countries are also coming in strong as they are now using foreign exposure and coaches while upgrading their technology to boost their chances.”

Ang boxing ay consistent medal winner para sa Team Philippines.

Noong 28th edition ng Games sa Singapore 2015, nagwagi ang Pinoy boxers na binubuo nina flyweight Ian Clark Bautista, bantamweight Mario Fernandez, lightweight Junel Cantancio, welterweight Eumir Felix Marcial sa men’s side habang s light flyweight ay dinomina ni Josie Gabuco ang women’s category upang makaiskor ng tagumpay na kampanya.
