Ipinaalam ni Noel Ferrer, spokesperson ng MMFF, na sa October 16 pa ang announcement ng Final 4 official entries sa 2019 MMFF at nabanggit na ibabatay nila sa merits ng movie ang mapipili at hindi sa publicity na nakukuha ng entry.
Dahil siguro ito sa paglabas ng teaser ng Culion na ipinakita si John Lloyd Cruz at inakalang sure entry na ang movie, lalo na at sina Iza Calzado na talent ni Noel, Jasmine Curtis-Smith at Meryll Soriano ang starring sa movie.
Post ni Noel: “I’m in the MMFF Execom meeting now and I’d like to tell everyone that the MMFF Selection Committee will decide the final 4 official entries based on the actual merits of the films submitted, and not on the publicity being generated in media now.
“We don’t appreciate the mudslinging and the negative publicities being forwarded to us at this point.
“We shall announce the final 4 entries on October 16. So, please, kalma lang... rest on the merits of the films submitted and on your goodwill for our industry.”
