Nagbigay na ng pahayag si Kris Aquino hinggil sa relocation ng estatwa ng ama niyang si yumaong Sen. Be­nigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. na dating naka­lagay sa kanto ng Timog and Quezon Avenues.

Ang nasabing estatwa ay na-damage dahil sa ongoing project ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) kaya naman ipinag-utos ni Quezon City Mayor Joy Bel­monte na i-relocate na lang ito.

Pero ang mas nakadagdag sa init ng issue ng relocation ay ang magkaibang choice nina Kris at kapatid na si former President Noynoy Aquino kung saan ire-relocate ang statue ng kanilang ama.

Sa kanyang mahabang Instagram post, nilinaw ni Kris na hindi raw naging issue sa pamilya nila ang lugar ng relocation.

“To clarify, HINDI po naging issue sa family where his statue would be relocated.

“Ate had messaged all of us after Mayor Joy Belmonte had communicated with her that MMDA had requested a change of venue. 2 options were given, Parks & Wildlife or the area near Trinoma/Vertis North where @iloveayalamalls is doing a lot of expansions.

“Hindi po issue na Noy chose DENR’s Parks & Wildlife and I wanted the mall deve­lopment area... obvious naman na magka­­­iba talaga kami, and clear din na we practice freedom of choice in our family.

“My vote had gone to the area nearer malls because I had felt mas mataas ang “foot traffic” and more of our youth would see my dad’s likeness on a regular basis and maybe have some curiosity about Ninoy Aquino & his contribution to Philippine democracy as we know it today.

“Hindi naman secret sa inyo, rebuilding our relationship as brother and sister remains a work in progress for us BUT hindi ibig sabihin na wala na ‘kong pagmamahal at respeto sa “kuya” ko na naging napakamaha­lagang bahagi ng magandang pagpapalaki ko kay Kuya Josh,” ang pahayag ni Kris.

Nagbigay din ng pasaring si Tetay sa nagpapalaki ng issue at ginagamit pa raw ito para lumaki ang gap nilang magkapatid.

“So kung trip n’yong gawing teleserye ang buhay-pamilya namin, mabo-bored lang kayo kasi walang matinding ‘di pagkakauna­waan na nagaganap. Hindi ko rin kayo pa-plastic-in at sasabihan na very close kami, we’re not- last time kaming nag­kita was more than 4 months ago.

“But really? Location ng statue ng dad namin ang gustong gamitin na issue to widen our gap? Trust me we’ve had more disagreements of substance than that.

“It’s just that we respect our mom’s memory so much that whatever differences we may have, we choose to keep them private in the hope that TIME will help heal & resolve all of them,” pag­tatapos ni Kris.
