Imagine, meron nang kurso ngayong ino-offer ang isang unibersidad sa United States tungkol sa BTS!
Ibinalita ng Korea Herald (a newspaper in South Korea) that University of California, Berkeley has just launched a 2-unit course called “Next Generation Leaders: BTS” to explore the phenomenal success of K-pop boy band BTS and its growing global impact, according to the school’s website.
Ang nasabing kurso ay parte ng UC Berkeley’s Democratic Education at Cal Program (DeCal), the school’s time-honored student-run democratic education program.
According to the program’s official web page, the DeCal Program is a student-run democratic education program at the University of California, Berkeley - here, students create and facilitate their own classes on a variety of (often unorthodox) subjects. Ang kurso ng BTS ay nasa ilalim ng media category.
“This course will focus on Korean boy group, BTS, and their global impact. We will attempt to explore the group’s history, artistry, philanthropy, and many other aspects in order to analyze their growing impact in society as well as their international success.
“Additionally, we will dive into the intricate world they have created through their album concepts and videos, also known as, ‘Bangtan Universe.’
“We will also look at media texts like articles, interviews, and the group’s own music videos to allow students to think critically and create their own theories about the group’s success,” ang nakasaad pa sa deskripsiyon ng kurso.
It is said that the new course was launched by two members of ARMY’s (official fan club ng BTS) who wanted to “create a space to analyze the BTS phenomenon.”
Last Feb. 5 ay nagkaroon ng mandatory information session sa campus para sa lahat ng estudyanteng gustong mag-enroll. Noong Feb. 6 naman ang last day for enrolling.
After hearing the news, nagkagulo na ang ARMY’s lalo na nga ang mga international fans at gusto nilang malaman kung ino-offer ba ang kurso online.
Sinagot naman ito ng namamahala ng kurso sa kanilang official Twitter account.
“Many have been asking for us to make this class available online. We were actually considering doing that too! But at this time, we are not planning on making anything public because it is a brand new course that will most likely go through a lot of changes,” tweet ng Next Gen BTS account.
Ibang klase talaga ang BTS!
