“The people of Sulu are proud of our heritage and we sincerely thank the Hon. Teodoro Locsin jr., Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs, for helping assert our ancestral rights. We hope the government of Malaysia understands the plight of the thousands of underprivileged and indigenous families of Sulu who barely survive in Sabah specially during this pandemic.

“We aspire for an amicable solution to the predicament that affects us all in this region.

His Majesty appeals to members of his family to unite for the sake of all the people of Sulu. He pleads to continued patience as there is no need to repeat the unfortunate circumstance of the past. The Royal house of Sulu firmly believes that diplomacy will allow us to move forward as governments and other parties involved play a crucial role from alleviating our people from poverty.”

“Let us realize the importance of conveying a message of peace to our children and grandchildren. For those of us living in the Sulu Archipelago, this dilemma has been happening for more than half a century. We call upon the international community to assist us in achieving a common goal beneficial to all.
