Star-studded ang ginanap na 11th Star Awards for Music ng Philippine Movie Press Club (PM­PC) nu’ng Huwebes (Jan. 23) sa SM North Skydome, Que­zon City kung saan pinarangalan at binigyang-papuri ang mga natatanging personalidad ng music industry.

‘Kaaliw ang Asia’s Songbird na si Regine Velasquez nang tinanggap niya ang Pilita Corrales Lifetime Achievement Award. Emosyonal si Regine at aniya, “Ngayon lang ako naka-receive ng Lifetime Achievement Award. Ano ba’ng ibig sabihin nu’n?”

Kasunod ng pasasalamat sa kan­yang pamilya, pinasalamatan din ni­ya ang kanyang asawang si Ogie Al­casid.

Aniya, “Nu’ng nawala po ‘yung tatay ko, may pumalit naman. Nag­papasalamat ako sa asawa ko. Si­ya ang naging inspirasyon ko ngayon at patuloy na sumusuporta sa akin. ‘Pag meron akong concert, siya nga­yon ang nagte-train sa ‘kin.”

Si Jose Mari Chan naman ang na­katanggap ng Levi Celerio Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sa Male Recording Artist of the Year, nag-tie sina Jed Madela at Christian Bautista.

Sa interview namin kay Jed, na­kakatuwa dahil ramdam na ramdam ang pagiging humble niya.

Natanong namin siya kung ano ang pakiramdam na walo silang nominees para sa nasabing kategorya at sila ni Christian ang nakasungkit ng award.

Aniya, “Well, I’m very honored na ako ‘yung napili but I share the award with all of these wonderful artists who… kasi lahat kami, we have the same goal which is to inspire and encourage not just the listeners but also our co-artists, our fellow performers na ipagpatuloy ang craft namin ‘to inspire more people. I really do hope that these awards continue to encourage us.”

Masaya rin si Jed na tie sila ni Christian sa nasabing award.

“I’m so happy kasi halos mag­ka­sabay kaming pumasok sa indus­triya ni Christian and he’s been a good­ friend and colleague. Our friendship has never changed kahit na magkaibang stations kami.”

Sey naman ni Christian sa pag­kapanalo niya, “I celebrate with my friends, with my co-nominees. Congratulations to all of you. I’m honored. Dapat pala, you just keep on doing good work and you will be rewarded.”

Ang all-smiles namang si Jaya ang nakasungkit ng Album of the Year award para sa Queen of Soul.

Nang matanong namin si Jaya kung ano ang pakiramdam niya after manalo ng nasabing award sa kabila ng mga bigating nominees katulad ni Megastar Sharon Cuneta, aniya, “Karangalan na maging kahilera ko ang aking mga naging idolo and to win an Album of the Year, it’s been a long time and… basta ang sa akin lang ay nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng mga sumuporta sa akin all throughout 1996 hanggang ngayon. Ang Star Music, talagang nagtiwala sila sa akin, so I’m just really happy and blessed to receive this big honor.”

Si Moira dela Torre naman ang itinanghal na Female Re­­cording Artist of the Year at nang mahingan ng mensahe para sa mga aspiring singers, aniya, “When I was starting, one of the things that was discouraging me was not getting validation from people. But in the long run, I realized that the greatest validation I can ever get is the confidence I give myself and so I wanna encourage everyone who are starting to not give up on your dreams, never get tired of sharing your heart.”

Samantala, may special performance ang controversial singer na si Morissette Amon pero tila walang nakapag-interview sa singer kaya hindi pa rin nabig­yang-linaw ang mga issues na kinasangkutan niya nu’ng mga nakaraang buwan.
