Ganern, AlDub fans? Arjo, umaming nagustuhan si Maine dahil komedyante

Nakaplano na ang bakasyon ng pamilya ni Arjo Atayde sa darating na holiday season. Aalis sila after Christmas at magse-celebrate ng New Year sa Dubai. Ang $64 question ay kung isasama ni Arjo ang girlfriend niyang si Maine Mendoza sa Dubai.

Siyempre, secret na lang ‘yun nina Arjo at Maine, kaya abang-abang na lang tayo ‘pag may time.

Pinuri naman ng mga netizens si Arjo sa ginawa niya kay Maine nu’ng sunduin niya ang Kapuso star sa airport when she arrived from Dubai. Gentleman daw si Arjo dahil sa pagsundo at pagbitbit ng maleta ni Maine.

Anyway, nu’ng nakausap namin si Arjo sa isang blogcon, someone asked him kung paano siya kumakawala sa cha­racter na ginagampanan niya sa isang project, gaya ng mapaghamong role niya sa iWant series titled Bagman 2.

After ng shooting, hindi raw siya na­nonood ng serious films pag-uwi, especially when he’s doing something serious.

“I watched comedy films. Will Ferrell, standup comedy ni Jokoy, Kevin Hart movies. Mga movies that you don’t have to think but to just laugh-off your ass the whole time. Para ‘pag the next day, se­rious ulit ako, lahat ng tawa ko sa kata­wan, nailabas ko na,” pahayag ni Arjo.

It’s like an exercise raw for him. He just detaches himself from the character at tawa lang daw siya nang tawa. Dahil doon, nakakalimutan niya ang karakter niya.

“Then the next day, ‘Paano nga ulit ‘yun?’ And then, I try to get back again. Me, forgetting doesn’t mean I forget about my job. It’s just I’m trying to forget about the, yeah, just detach for a while.”

There was a time raw na halos araw-araw ay nagsu-shoot siya ng proyekto. Min­san pa nga raw, tatlong projects ang gina­gawa niya nang sabay-sabay, so parang nababaliw na siya. Kaya ang ginagawa niya, pag-uwi ay nanonood siya ng comedy.

We asked Arjo kung impluwensiya ba ni Maine ang pagkahilig niya sa comedy films.

“Hindi po. Hindi po,” paulit-ulit niyang sabi. “I’ve always been… Sabi ko nga, ang ra­son kung bakit ako naging artista was ‘di ba, Babalu and Redford White. And I don’t do what I’m doing with my line right now.”

Baka naman kaya niya nagustuhan si Maine ay dahil sa pagiging komedyante ng kalahati ng AlDub.

“Ay, opo. Opo, yes,” pag-amin ni Arjo.

Ayon sa pag-aanalisa ng ilang showbiz kibitzers, sa pagkawala ni John Lloyd Cruz sa industriya, isa si Arjo — or kung ‘di man ay solo niya — sa mga nag-fill-in ng posisyong iniwan ng Kapamilya star.

“Well, alam ninyo, I’m a fan of John Lloyd because he moves me. More than wanting to be a leading man, you see, I’m a character actor. I’m happy seeing John Lloyd, JM de Guzman, and Jericho Rosales. Three leading men who actually move me so much when they do characters. And I, in terms of Lloydie, I’m a fan of his work, not because he is John Lloyd Cruz.”

He has so much respect daw for Lloydie.

“And if you’re asking me to fill in that space of Lloydie? I can’t. I cannot do that. John Lloyd is John Lloyd. He is still John Lloyd Cruz. I have so much respect for the guy. Kahit ano’ng gawin ko, kahit ano’ng gawin kong project, John Lloyd Cruz is John Lloyd Cruz.”

Dagdag pa ni Arjo, “I’m a fan. And, I’m still a fan of whatever project he’s gonna do. I wan­na work with him, you know. I’ve been working my ass for eight years not wanting to compete with my idols, but for me, to work with them.

“That’s why I choose to be a character actor because if I’m gonna be a lead actor, I can’t work with all lead actors, right? So I want to be given this opportunity to work with all these people because ‘di ba, you want to work with the best out of the bests, you know. And replacing Lloydie? No, John Lloyd Cruz is John Lloyd Cruz. I’m different. He’s very different and I think, comparing is very not fair for Lloydie.”
