UP Coach Perasol, suspendido

Sinuspinde si University of the Philippines coach Bo Perasol ng tatlong laro ng pamunuan ng University Athletic Association of the Philippines. Ipinataw ang nasabing parusa kay Perasol dahil sa kanyang inasal sa nakaraang laban ng Fighting Maroons kontra Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles noong Linggo-Setyembre 29.

“After thorough review and careful deliberation made by the technical committee, we deemed it fit that the penalty of three-game suspension handed to coach Bo Perasol for his actions in the game between Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines last Sunday,” paliwanag ni UAAP Basketball Commissioner Jensen Ilagan.

May nalalabi pang 6:23 oras sa 3rd quarter ng nasabing laro, pumasok si Perasol sa loob ng playing court at kinumpronta si referee Jaime Rivano. Bunga nito, tinawagan sya ng dalawang technical fouls dahil sa ipinakita nyang unsportsmanlike behavior na naging dahilan ng kanyang ejection. Ayon sa isinasaad ng Article 9.2.1 ng UAAP General Tournament Guidelines, 2019, sinumang student-athlete, coach, trainer, o team manager, team official o delegation member na matu-thrown out dahil sa unsportsmanlike behavior ay hindi papahintulutan na makalaro sa susunod nilang laban.

Ang dagdag na 2 larong suspensiyon kay Perasol ay dahil sa hindi nito pagpapaawat sa pagsugod sa game official kahit inaawat na siya ng kanyang mga manlalaro. “Do acknowledge that similar actions of the same grain shall be dealt with similar penalties,” dagdag ni Ilagan. “May this incident be an example for players and coaches alike to exhibit tremendous restraint and discipline, not just towards officials but everyone on the court. We’d also like to remind the teams that there are proper avenues to raise these contradictions and complaints to protect the sanctity of the game we all love.”

Dahil sa suspensiyon hindi makakaupo sa bench ng UP si Perasol sa mga sumusunod na laro ng UP: kontra FEU sa Okt. 6, UE (Okt. 12) at UST (Okt. 16).
