“Just looking through the pictures of yesterday’s Star Magic Ball 2019 when a couple of pictures caught my attention.
“It appears that Gerald Anderson, Jerome Ponce, Nash Aguas, and Elmo Magalona were wearing the “tabak” pin on their lapels as an accessory to the garb that they were wearing. I don’t know if these young gentlemen are aware of the tradition that goes with wearing this hallowed symbol? I don’t know if they are aware of the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that men in the Special forces have to shed just to earn one of those badges. I am wondering if these fine young men have gone through the rigid training that special forces operatives go through for them to earn even the right to own one of these badges. I have heard that they are going through some type of military training to prepare for their roles as soldiers... They may be playing soldiers, but I find it in poor taste for them to flaunt a symbol of bravery and patriotism of an elite few who chose to dedicate their lives for God and country. I doubt if they even know how these pins are attached to spec force operatives once it is awarded to them, let alone experience it themselves... (The pins are pounded into the flesh of the chests of operatives during their graduation ceremonies. FYI)
“Even Matteo Guidicelli who went through a 45-day intensified training with the 1st SRR, and was obviously accorded with the Scout Ranger “tabak”, never even flaunted his “tabak” in utter reverence to the symbol. Yet here are young men playing soldiers having the audacity to flaunt the symbol of hard work and sacrifice and treat it like it was some kind of trinket. I don’t know if the AFP allowed these young men to don the tabak pin (why were they given tabak pins in the first place?) for this purpose, when in the first place these pins are only worn by bona fide spec ops (retired and active duty) during gala events or when they are buried to their graves. #stolenvalor”
