Sa botong 70-11, franchise ng ABS CBN ibinasura

Ibinasura ng House Committee on Legislative Franchises na mabigyan muli ng prangkisa ang ABS-CBN nitong Biyernes.

Halos 70 na mambabatas ang tumutol upang mabigyan ito ng bagong prangkisa at 11 naman ang sang-ayon, 2 ang inhibit at 1 ang abstain. Narito ang listahan ng mga abogado na sumang-ayon na muling mabigyan ng prangkisa ang ABS-CBN:

· Bienvenido Abante Jr, Manila 6th District

· Carlos Isagani Zarate, Bayan Muna party-list

· Christopher De Venecia, Pangasinan 4th District

· Edward Vera Perez Maceda, Manila 4th District

· Gabriel Bordado Jr, Camarines Sur 3rd District

· Jose "Ping-Ping" Tejada, North Cotabato 3rd District

· Lianda Bolilia, Batangas 4th District

· Mujiv Hataman, Basilan

· Sol Aragones, Laguna 3rd District

· Stella Luz Quimbo, Marikina 2nd District

· Vilma Santos-Recto, Batangas 6th District

Humarap sa Kamara ang mga opisyal ng ABS-CBN ng halos 12 beses upang magkaroon ng bagong prangkisa na makapag-operate alang-alang sa 11,000 na manggagawang nagtratrabaho sa kumpanyang ito.

Naipatigil ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) noong Mayo 5 ang pag broadcast ng ABS-CBN magtapos mag-expired ang prangkisa nito.

Sa halos 12 franchise hearing na hinarap ng mga opisyal ng ABS-CBN ay sinagot nila ang bawat katanungan na pinaparatang sa kumpanya.

Ayon sa Cube 3rd District na binuo nina Representative Pablo John Garcia, Camiguin Rep. Xavier Jesus Romualdo at Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo ang prangkisa ay ibinasura dahil sa mga sumunod:

· The American citizenship and doubtful Filipino citizenship and allegiance to the Philippines of ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III;

· ABS-CBN’s possible violation of the constitutional prohibition against ownership and management of mass media by foreigners;

· ABS-CBN’s numerous violations of the terms of its legislative franchise;

· questionable and unjust, if not immoral, tax avoidance schemes;

· apparent use of a dummy; and less than exemplary labor practices.
