Itinalaga ni Pope Francis si Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle bilang miyembro ng Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, ang central office ng Simbahan para sa promosyon ng interreligous dialogue na naayon sa gawain ng Second Vatican Council.

Noon May, itinaas ni Pope Francis si Cardinal Tagle ng rank na cardinal-bishop, ang highest order sa College of Cardinals.
Umakyat pa ang 62-taong-gulang na si Cardinal Tagle bilang bagong Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples or Propaganda Fide noong Disyembre 2019, kasunod si Cardinal-bishop Fernando Filoni.
