P785M budget ng OVP para sa 2027, aprub agad sa Kamara

Inaprubahan ng House of Representatives ang panukalang P785.204 million budget ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) para sa 2027 matapos tapusin ang plenary deliberations nang walang interpellation.

Iminungkahi ni ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. Antonio Tinio ang pagtatapos ng interpellation, na sinuportahan ni Palawan 3rd District Rep. Gil Acosta. Wala namang tumutol sa mosyon.

Mas mababa ng 11.7% ang panukalang OVP budget kumpara sa P889.236 million appropriated budget nito noong 2026. Ayon sa OVP, gagamitin ito para ipagpatuloy ang paghahatid ng tulong at serbisyo sa mga benepisyaryo sa buong bansa.

Kinatawan ni Assistant Chief of Staff Lemuel Ortonio ang OVP sa plenaryo.

4 impeachment vs. Sara, umusad na

Nai-transmit na sa House Committee on Justice ang apat na impeachment complaints laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte. 

Ito na ang ikalawang pagkakataong susubukan ng Kamara na ma-impeach si VP Sara. 

Matatandaang nitong nakaraang taon, ang pagtatangka ay sa pamamagitan ng boto ng higit 1/3 ng mga miyembro ng mababang kapulungan. 

Ang 2 sa impeachment complaint na inihain laban sa Bise Presidente ay magkahiwalay na inihain ng mga indibidwal mula sa Makabayan Coalition habang ang 2 ay mula sa civil society groups. 

Gayunman, halos magkakapareho rin ang basehan ng mga reklamo. Kabilang rito ang pagbabanta umano ni VP Sara sa buhay nina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos at dating House Speaker Martin Romualdez. 

Maging ang isyu ng umano'y iregularidad sa paggamit ng confidential funds noong siya ay kalihim pa ng Department of Education at sa tanggapan ng Bise Presidente.

Isang bagong unit na nakatuon sa pagbibigay ng proteksyon sa bise presidente ang binuhay o in-activate ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) nitong Biyernes, ilang araw bago ang opisyal na pag-upo ni Vice President-elect Sara Duterte sa posisyon.

Ang Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) ay siya ring titiyak sa kaligtasan at seguridad ng pamilya ng bise presidente, ayon sa AFP sa isang press release.

Ginanap ang activation ceremony ng VPSPG sa AFP General Headquarters sa Camp Aguinaldo. Itinalaga ni AFP Chief of Staff General Andres Centino si Lieutenant Colonel Rene Giroy ng Philippine Army bilang unang VPSPG group commander.

“The AFP saw it fitting to provide the Office of the Vice President a dedicated unit that shall ensure the safety and security of the second-highest elected official in the country,” pahayag ni Centino.

Noong una, ang Vice Presidential Security Detachment ay naka-attached sa Presidential Security Group, na partikular na pumoprotekta rin sa pangulo. Subalit sa ngayon, ang bagong nabuong VPSPG ay isa nang hiwalay na unit na pamumunuan ng isang 0-6 grade officer o may rank ng colonel o Navy captain.

“I am confident that the newly-designated acting VPSPG Commander and the rest of the Officers and Enlisted Personnel entrusted to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of the Vice President and her family shall perform their responsibilities to the best of their abilities,” saad pa ni Centino.
