Itinalaga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si John Henry Du Naga bilang Commissioner of the National Privacy Commission (NPC) para sa termino na tatlong taon, ayon sa Malacañang ngayong Biyernes.
Sinabi ni acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles na nilagdaan ng Pangulo ang appointment papers ni Naga noong Disyembre 14.
“We wish Mr. Naga success as we are confident that his years of professional experience in the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the NPC will contribute to our goal of a competitive, knowledge-based and innovative nation where the flow of information remains free while upholding people’s right to privacy and data protection,” sabi ni Nograles.
Bago pa naging NPC chief, si Naga ay isang lawyer na nagsisilbi bilang Deputy NPC Commissioner.
Base sa kanyang information page sa NPC website, si Naga ay in-appoint ni Pangulong Duterte bilang Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Assistant Secretary noong Setyembre 2016.
Ang noo’y DICT Acting Secretary Eliseo Rio ay in-assign si Naga bilang kanyang Chief-of-Staff at itinalagang Undersecretary for Management and Operations noong Hunyo 2018.
“As the Undersecretary, he is responsible for the overall internal management of the Department,” nakasaad sa profile ni Naga.
Noong Pebrero 2019, si Naga ay itinalagang head ng Development and Innovations cluster ng DICT kung saan ito ay in charge sa pag-iimplementa ng National Broadband Plan, National Government Portal, ang Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
Gayundin, bago ang kanyang DICT stint, nagsilbi si Naga bilang Provincial Board Member para sa dalawang termino sa lalawigan ng Masbate at dating nag-practiced ng law at humawak ng labor, telecommunication, at corporation cases.
