Lahat ng fire safety inspectors sa Metro Manila, sibak

Sinibak sa puwesto ang lahat ng fire safety inspectors (FSIs) sa Metro Manila ng Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) bilang bahagi ng hakbang sa pagsugpo sa mga katiwalian sa ahensya.

Sa inilabas na pahayag nitong Martes, sinabi ng BFP na layunin ng hakbang na magtakda ng bagong pamantayan ng transparency bago palawakin ang programa sa iba pang rehiyon.

Ayon sa ahensya, marami sa mga FSIs ang tapat at dedikado sa serbisyo, ngunit kinakailangan ang malawakang relief upang matugunan ang mga sistematikong anomalya at makapagsimula ng panibagong sistema.

Hindi naman agad pinangalanan ng BFP kung sinu-sino ang mga apektadong FSIs at kung ilan ang kabuuang bilang ng mga ito.

Ipinaliwanag ng BFP na papalitan ang mga inalis na FSIs ng mga kwalipikadong tauhan na hindi pa nagsisilbi bilang inspector sa NCR.

Kung kulangin ang tauhan sa rehiyon, kukuha ang ahensya ng karagdagang personnel mula sa ibang regional offices.

Titiyakin din ng BFP ang due process sa sistema ng inspeksyon at magtatag ng mas malinaw at patas na proseso sa pagpapatupad ng fire code.

Isinagawa ang hakbang ng ahensya halos dalawang linggo matapos masuspinde sa puwesto si dating BFP Chief Fire Director Jesus Fernandez dahil sa alegasyon ng graft and corruption kaugnay sa umano’y P14.7 milyong kickback sa procurement ng mga ambulansya noong 2024.

Sa kasalukuyan, itinalaga si Fire Chief Superintendent Wilberto Rico Neil Kwan Tiu bilang officer-in-charge ng BFP kapalit ni Fernandez.

In a groundbreaking initiative, SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SM Prime) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) are searching for the Ten Outstanding Firefighters of the Philippines 2024 to recognize the exceptional bravery and dedication of our firefighters.

For the first time, a private company like SM Prime is shining a spotlight on the exemplary performance of 10 out of nearly 38,000 BFP personnel. These firefighters have gone above and beyond in their duties, risking their lives to protect communities across the country.

The deadline for nominations is August 31, 2024. Nominations can be submitted by BFP’s highest commanding officer of the unit, immediate superior, or local chief executive.

Nominations for the awards began in July 2024, with the awarding ceremony scheduled for December 2024. The top 10 awardees will receive a plaque of recognition and a cash prize of PHP 250,000 each, while ten finalists will each be awarded PHP 20,000.

SM Prime and the BFP have partnered through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on June 27, 2024. As part of this partnership, the two organizations launched the yearly search for the Ten Outstanding Firefighters of the Philippines.

Dalawang bangkay ang narekober habang isa ang nawawala matapos na isang bahagi ng establisimyento ang gumuho sa Meycauayan, Bulacan, ayon sa Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) ngayong Miyerkules.

Sa isang Facebook post, sinabi ng BFP Central Luzon na tinatayang nasa apat na katao ang naapektuhan sa insidente sa kahabaan ng Silver St., Moralla Industrial Park, Barangay Libtong, Meycauayan, Bulacan.

“Per recent status update, two were found dead upon retrieval, one has been found alive, and one still missing as operation continues,” pahayag ng BFP.

Patuloy naman ang BFP na nagsasagawa ng search, rescue, at retrieval operations sa pinangyarihang lugar. Inaalam na rin ng mga awtoridad ang dahilan at sanhi ng pagguho ng istraktura.
