Sa gitna ng patuloy na pagtaas ng langis, dapat na umanong ilabas ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) at iba pang kaukulang ahensya ang P3 bilyong subsidy para sa mga tsuper ng public utility vehicle (PUV).

Ginawa ni Poe ang panawagan bilang tugon sa anunsyo ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) na dapat ilabas muna ang joint memorandum circular na nilagdaan ng mga kinauukulang ahensya bago mailabas ng ahensya ang pondo para sa fuel subsidy na inihain sa 2023 budget.

Kasunod din nito ang panawagan ng senadora sa kaparehong araw kung saan umapela ang grupo ng taxi operators na itaas ang flagdown rate mula P40 hanggang P70 dahil sa pagtaas ng mga produktong petrolyo.

“Inilatag na natin sa 2023 budget ang P3 billion fuel subsidy na hindi pa rin nagagamit kahit halos matatapos na ang taon. The DOTr must immediately issue the memorandum circulars and execute the memorandum of agreement necessary for the release of the long overdue fuel subsidy,” pahayag ni Poe.

"We understand the plight of our drivers and operators amid the series of oil price hike. If we hike the fare, then it's the public who will be burdened by this. Would the public be able to pay for it when a fare hike was implemented just last year?” tanong ng senadora.

Dagdag pa ni Poe na dapat maghanap din ang DOTr at ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ng iba pang alternatibo para makatulong sa PUV sector at commuters.

P105.6B pondo para sa State Universities and Colleges — DBM

Naglaan ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ng P105. 6 bilyong pondo sa State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) sa bansa para sa susunod na taon.

Sinabi ni Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, nakapaloob ang pondo sa 2024 National Expenditure Program (NEP) at mapapakinabangan ng tatlong milyong kabataang estudyante.

“Echoing the pronouncement of our President, alongside the strengthening of our economy, we will also invest heavily in human capital development through education, health, and social protection,” sabi ni Pangandaman.

Inihayag naman ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. na mahalagang magkaroon ng free tertiary education ang mga Filipino.

“With 99.5 percent of our public schools now implementing 5-day in-person classes, this amount will fund significant investments in the education of over 28 million learners nationwide,” diin ni Marcos.

Idinagdag pa ng budget chief na may P21.7 bilyon na pondo para sa 116 SUCs sa Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education (UAQTE).

“Access to quality education will also be at the forefront of the government’s education agenda through the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education,” sabi ng kalihim.

Nabatid na ang panukalang UAQTE budget sa susunod na taon ay mas mataas nang P3 bilyon o 14.32 percent kumpara sa P18.8 bilyon na kasalukuyang budget.

P5.768-T budget para sa 2024, aprub na kay P-BBM

Aprubado na ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., ang P5.768 trilyong panukalang budget para sa taong 2024 na inaasahan ng administrasyon na isusumite sa Kongreso ilang linggo matapos ang kanyang State of the Nation Address (SONA) sa Hulyo 24.

Sinabi ni Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, mas mataas ito ng 9.5 percent kumpara sa kasalukuyang budget na P5.268 trilyon.

Ayon kay Pangandaman, patuloy na bibigyang prayoridad ni Marcos ang mga programa para sa economic growth ng bansa.

Nakapaloob aniya ito sa Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 at 8-point socioeconomic agenda.

Dagdag pa ni Pangandaman na nasa P5.90 trilyong budget ang natanggap na pambansang pondo ng ahensya.

"Guided by our Medium-Term Fiscal Framework, the proposed national budget will continue to prioritize expenditures outlined in the administration's 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda and cater to the objectives of PDP 2023-2028," wika ni Pangandaman sa isang pahayag.

"It shall continue to reflect our commitment to pursue economic and social transformation to address the scarring effects of the pandemic, as well as the impact of inflation, by prioritizing shovel-ready investments in infrastructure projects, investments in human capital development, and sustainable agriculture and food security, among others,” hirit pa ng kalihim.
