Maria sa isyu ni Suntay, “The analogy wasn’t malicious, said the person who made the remark. But the impact was clear… it made people, most especially women, feel disgusted and disrespected. If that kind of analogy was used to make a point, it clearly reveals the mindset of the person who said it. That’s not something we should normalize.”

Ayon naman kay Gabbi Garcia, “If you hold power, act like it. Objectifying women, even in passing remarks, is unacceptable. We are not here to be reduced to someone’s imagination. NAKAKADIRI.”

Pati si Atom Araullo, napa-comment, “If the honourable congressman thinks those remarks belong in the halls of Congress, one can only imagine what passes for normal conversation in private, especially when women aren’t in the room. What followed was even worse: intellectual dishonesty and refusal to engage with criticism. The familiar playbook of strongman politics that seems to be spreading everywhere these days.”

Si Jasmine Curtis-Smith, may pahabol na comment, “Suntay should just stop talking,” at ang short comment na “THIS” sa tweet ni Atty. Jesus Falcis na, “It’s not enough for Bong Suntay’s remarks about Anne Curtis to be stricken off the record. He should also apologize and go under a Safe Spaces or Gender Sensitivity Training. It is not acceptable to talk about women like that on Women’s Month or any month for that matter.”

God bless her golden heart, and we pray and hope for the speedy recovery of our veteran actress who loves her industry so much.”

Robin Padilla at Sen. Lito Lapid.

I will name him PUNCH! Whoooohaaaa! I-L-O-V-E—P-U-N-C-H!”

Jasmine Curtis Smith at Bong Suntay - Instagram RTVM

Inayunan din ni Jasmine ang posts ng mga netizens sa ginawang pambabastos ng kongresista at ini-repost niya ang payo sa kanya na “Please consider filing an ethics complaint as well as a criminal complaint for Qualified Sexual Harassment Online and in Public Spaces or Sec. 15 of the Bawal Bastos Law. Teach him a lesson. Do not accept apologies. Laban.”

Sa panayam naman kay Congressman Bong Suntay ng One News PH ay sinabi niyang, “Anne Curtis should take my remark as a compliment.”

What a disgusting man. A father. A husband.”

A representative of the people. Paid by the people. A husband, a father with daughters. Without the consciousness, knowledge or decency of how women should be talked about. Please keep your sick thoughts to yourself.”

Dagdag pa, “Respectfully, Bong Suntay, what on earth? Bakit ganu’n ang thinking? Happy National Women’s Month.”

Pahayag pa niya, “This moment is not about one female celebrity. It is about how all women, regardless of profession, continue to be reduced to bodies in spaces dominated by men in power.

“When a congressman publicly narrates his desire and imagination about a woman he once saw, or dreams he saw, (idk his statements keep changing), it reinforces a culture that treats women as consumable, as spectacle, as fantasy, as objects for commentary rather than as whole human beings with agency, intellect, and autonomy.

“Public office carries with it the responsibility to elevate discourse, not diminish it. The halls of government should be spaces where women are discussed for their contributions, their ideas, and their leadership, not as imagined scenarios.

“We cannot continue excusing this as just being honest or just a compliment. It is neither.

“Respect is not complicated. If we want safer environments for our daughters, nieces, and future leaders, accountability must begin with those elected to represent us.”

Samantala, ipinag-uutos ni Quezon City (QC) Mayor Joy Belmonte na mag-public apology si Ginoong Bong Suntay.

Sa inilabas na official statement ni Mayor Joy kagabi, “I urge Congressman Bong Suntay to apologize for the inappropriate remarks that he made at a recent House committee hearing.

“His words directly contradict the spirit of empowerment that we have worked hard to build here in Quezon City. Over the years, we have embraced the difficult work of establishing protections for women, constantly striving to honor their rights by creating safe spaces and opportunities for them.

“In this context, it is truly disappointing to witness Congressman Suntay’s casual display of objectification on Women’s Month no less. But what makes this incident especially troubling is the fact that, as a former member of our City Council, he was part of the body that passed our Gender and Development Code.

“Moreover, he was the majority floor leader of the City Council when we passed the Bawal Bastos Ordinance, which declares that lewd, malicious and demeaning remarks and acts have no place in public life. Quezon City instituted this policy in 2016, ahead of the national Safe Spaces Act.

“Our policies are a declaration of our city’s values, of what we stand for and what we refuse to tolerate. We expect our elected officials to be the first to live by them.

“Thus, it is clear to me: We must not hesitate to push back against any act that undermines the dignity of our women. We must continue to stand for their safety, dignity and equality, without exception and without compromise.

“We call on Congressman Suntay to take full accountability for his remarks, issue a proper

apology and conduct himself with the dignity that his office and our city demand. Our people deserve no less.”

Sundin naman kaya ito? Abangan!

Samantala, walang nakuhang simpatya o kakampi si Cong. Bong Suntay sa offensive comment niya kay It’s Showtime (IS) TV host-actress Anne Curtis, kaya kahit pinaninindigan niya ang kanyang statement na wala naman daw malisya,

humingi na rin siya ng public apology.

“Sinabi ko kay Anne, that analogy was not meant maliciously. It was an analogy meant for the pagdinig dito. It might have been in bad taste for some but I apologize kung may mga sensitivities na tinamaan. That was not my intention.

“The intention was to make a point that usually, oftentimes, statements are taken out of context and conclusions are made. ‘Yun ‘yung unang punto.

“Ang pangalawang punto ko, desires and imagination cannot be made an impeachable offense on the thing dito sa impeachment proceeding. Para kasing kailangan ng overact. Desires and imagination is also not a criminal offense. ‘Yun ‘yung analogy ko rin. In fact, ulitin ko, it was a fictitious situation.

Making that analogy, well, I regret na may nasaktan, but I don’t regret making that analogy.”

Ano ba talaga, Cong. Bong Suntay?

VP Inday Sara Duterte - OVP

“At this stage, the Vice President’s legal team will carefully review the actions taken by the House and the Committee, as well as the records of the proceedings,” giit ni Atty. Michael Poa, legal counsel ni Duterte.

“For now, we will refrain from discussing the substance of the case in the media and will instead address these matters through the proper constitutional processes,” pagtatapos ni Poa.

“Our vote today is not a verdict of guilt vote of guilt nor an act of condemnation. It is simply a decision whether the constitutional process should move forward,” paliwanag ni Hernandez.

“This is the stage where we ask: Do the allegations rise to the level of impeachable offenses? Do these complaints meet the constitutional threshold to move forward? And [more] importantly, are the allegations credible enough to justify moving forward with the process?” sabi ni Luistro.

“At this stage, we are not determining guilt.” dagdag niya.

France Castro.
