First day in office.. Pangulong Marcos at VP Duterte, dumalo sa Misa

Sinimulan nina Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at Vice President Sara Duterte ang kanilang unang araw ng panunungkulan sa pagdalo sa isang Misa sa loob ng compound ng Malacañang.

Batay sa impormasyon na inilabas ng Presidential News Desk, ginanap ang Misa ngayong Biyernes sa San Miguel Parish Church at si Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula nag-officiate nito.

Si Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo ang nag-post sa Facebook ng larawan nina Pangulong Marcos at VP Sara sa loob ng simbahan. Sa kanyang homily, nanawagan si Cardinal Advincula sa mga matatas na lider ng bansa aniya, “emulate the two traits of the Good Shepherd such as listening leadership and life-giving leadership.”

“As we meet in our offices and conference halls asking questions in our heads, may we be mindful of our people who ask questions in their empty stomachs… May we be leaders who listen to our people, especially the poor and marginalized,” pahayag ng cardinal.

“Jesus Christ is also a life-giving shepherd, a life-giving leader. He desires his flock to gain abundance and fullness of life, and he does this by laying down his own life for his sheep. He came not to be served, but to serve,” dagdag pa ni Cardinal Advincula.

Hiniling din ng cardinal sa mga opisyal ng gobyerno na maging mabuti hindi lamang sa ilang mga indibidwal o partikular na mga grupo kundi sa buong Pilipinas.

“Guided by truth, urged by charity, and passionate for justice and peace, may you spend yourselves in the service of the common good,” saad pa ng cardinal.

Hinimok din ni Cardinal Advincula ang publiko na suportahan at tulungan ang bagong administrasyon upang kanilang maisagawa ang kanilang mandato at maisakatuparan ang kanilang aspirasyon para sa pagpapabuti at ikauunlad ng ating bansa.

Poprotekta rin sa pamilya.. Vice pres’l security group, binuhay ng AFP

Isang bagong unit na nakatuon sa pagbibigay ng proteksyon sa bise presidente ang binuhay o in-activate ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) nitong Biyernes, ilang araw bago ang opisyal na pag-upo ni Vice President-elect Sara Duterte sa posisyon.

Ang Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) ay siya ring titiyak sa kaligtasan at seguridad ng pamilya ng bise presidente, ayon sa AFP sa isang press release.

Ginanap ang activation ceremony ng VPSPG sa AFP General Headquarters sa Camp Aguinaldo. Itinalaga ni AFP Chief of Staff General Andres Centino si Lieutenant Colonel Rene Giroy ng Philippine Army bilang unang VPSPG group commander.

“The AFP saw it fitting to provide the Office of the Vice President a dedicated unit that shall ensure the safety and security of the second-highest elected official in the country,” pahayag ni Centino.

Noong una, ang Vice Presidential Security Detachment ay naka-attached sa Presidential Security Group, na partikular na pumoprotekta rin sa pangulo. Subalit sa ngayon, ang bagong nabuong VPSPG ay isa nang hiwalay na unit na pamumunuan ng isang 0-6 grade officer o may rank ng colonel o Navy captain.

“I am confident that the newly-designated acting VPSPG Commander and the rest of the Officers and Enlisted Personnel entrusted to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of the Vice President and her family shall perform their responsibilities to the best of their abilities,” saad pa ni Centino.

Full face-to-face classes sa Agosto.. Taas-sahod sa mga guro, target ni VP Sara

Inihirit ng isang grupo kay incoming Vice President at Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte na gawing tumulong sa pagsusulong ng salary increase para sa mga guro at tiyaking ang mga classrooms ay handa na sa susunod na school year.

Matatandaan noong 2020 ay nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, ama ni VP Sara, ang Salary Standardization Law of 2019, na nagpo-provide ng taas-sahod o wage hikes para sa mga government workers, kabilang na ang mga public school teachers.

Ayon kay Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Secretary-General Raymond Basilio, “[it was not] merely about increasing but correcting the injustice done to our teachers.”

“We know that there are some limitations with the budget but we're doing this injustice to our teachers for several years already. Recently the Supreme Court upheld that the entry-level pay for nurses is Salary Grade 15 or P37,000,” ani Basilio sa isang interview ngayong Lunes.

“We have the same qualification for our military personnel, their pay has been increased years ago. It’s quite unfair for teachers who have the same qualification and job description have been left out,” dagdag pa niya.

Ayon kay Basilio, hindi rin nagbigay ng assistance ang gobyerno sa mga guro na tinamaan ng COVID-19. Aniya, nanawagan naman ang grupo para sa P3,000 emergency allowance sa mga guro.

“That’s the sad reality. Ni singkong duling po walang naibigay na assistance sa ’tin ang gobyerno. We had hundreds of teachers who died because of COVID-19. Ang dami nagkasakit,” giit ni Basilio. “Ang nangyari po dito nag-pass the hat. Nag-contribute ang teachers, nagtulong-tulong,” saad niya.

Apela pa ni Basilo na dapat ding tiyakin ni VP Sara na handa na ang mga pasilidad at ang mga paaralan ay kayang mag-admit ng lahat ng estudyante para sa incoming school year.

“Dito sa limited face-to-face, I’ve heard... tinatanggihan ng schools ang ibang estudyante na gusto sumali sa limited face-to-face, because of facilities. Walang classroom, walang sapat na bilang ng teachers,” pahayag niya.

Ayon pa kay Basilio, dapat ding bigyan ang mga guro ng mga gadgets gaya ng mga laptops at libreng masters’ degree education. Una nang sinabi ng DepEd na magpapamahagi ang ahensiya ng libu-libo ng laptops sa mga guro.

“Alam ko po maraming teachers ang nag-loan para makabili ng laptop computer. Natapos na po ang 2 years… ‘di pa rin dumadating sa teachers ang mga laptop computers na ito,” giit ni Basilio.

Samantala, bilang tugon ni VP Sara, sinabi nitong maghahanap siya ng paraan upang itaas ang mga sahod ng guro habang pinag-iisipan na niya ang pagpapatupad ng full face-to-face classes sa mga paaralan sa Agosto.

Sa press briefing ngayong Lunes ng umaga, binanggit ni VP Sara na nagbigay na ng instruksyon si President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na i-review ang pagpapatupad ng K-12 program ng DepEd.

Nang tanungin siya hinggil sa pagsusulong ng F2F classes sa Agosto, ani VP Sara, “We are targeting that, yes.” “We’ll look at how we’ll be able to push that from the other accomplishments [of the department],” pahayag niya nang tanungin naman patungkol sa panawagang itaas ang sahod ng mga guro.

“Actually, the Duterte administration did do something about that,” saad pa ni VP Sara, kung saan aniya, may salary increase na P23,877 mula sa dating P19,077. Ang entry-level teacher o Teacher 1, ay nasasakop sa ilalim ng Salary Grade 11 at makatatanggap ng monthly salary na P25,439.
